Book Description

Set in the western town of Pendleton, Oregon, this series highlights courageous women and the men who love them.

The series begins in 1899, as Pendleton heads into a new century and an era as a booming, bustling city. During the early 1900s, Pendleton was considered a modern, progressive town, despite a wild west reputation. In addition to 18 bordellos and 32 saloons, Pendleton offered residents such cultured experiences as an opera house, a French restaurant, and a tea room. It was the second city in Oregon to have paved streets and boasted a telephone office as well as wonders like indoor plumbing to those who could afford the services.

Servicing a huge region in Eastern Oregon, it was an entertainment hub, shipping center, and so much more, especially with the millions of bushels of wheat and pounds of wool produced in the area.

While the town didn't lack for colorful characters, those portrayed in the Pendleton Petticoats series are purely fictional.

Coming from a variety of backgrounds, the series showcases women from all walks of life who find their courage and persevere in chasing their dreams.

Desperate to better her situation, Aundy Thorsen agrees to leave behind her life in Chicago to fulfill a farmer’s request for a mail-order bride in Pendleton, Oregon. When a tragic accident leaves her a widow soon after becoming a wife, Aundy takes on the challenge of learning how to manage a farm, even if it means her stubborn determination to succeed upsets a few of the neighbors.

Born and raised at Nash's Folly, the family ranch, Garrett Nash loves life in the bustling community of Pendleton as the 20th century approaches.

When his neighbor passes away and leaves behind a plucky widow, Garrett takes on the role of her protector and guardian. His admiration for her tenacious spirit soon turns to something more. He just needs to convince the strong-willed woman to give love another chance.

Book Review

Aundy is a historical story of a young woman widowed under trying circumstances.

It deals with her (mis)adventures and of course how she finally finds love. When she sets out to be a mail order bride, she has no idea what the future will hold for her. Then she meets the man she marries within hours of meeting and realizes that he is a caring person who she could happily pass the rest of her days with.

Only that is not to be as a tragic accident leaves her a widow. Thankfully Erik, her husband has provided for her in his will, but now she must struggle to run a farm in a town where ranch hands do not consider it right to work for a woman boss. The unflinching support of her neighbours, the Nash family, helps her pull through the trying times.

If you enjoy historical romances you will enjoy reading this book.
