Book Description

When Lauren divorces her husband, she has one thought on her mind...stepping off the merry-go-round. However, her life quickly turns into a three-ring circus: her hypochondriac father moves in, her ex is using her shower when she’s not home, and her perky assistant is pushing her out into the fearsome dating world. She also has to decide if the dilapidated barn and vintage merry-go-round she was awarded in the divorce settlement is a blessing or a bane. As if Lauren’s personal life isn’t chaotic enough, this slightly jaded attorney is overrun with a cast of quirky characters who can’t stay on the right side of the law. What’s a woman to do? She can allow life to spin her in circles forever. Or she can reach out and grab the brass ring.

Book Review

It would be a crime to label this book as just a romance novel. Donna has written a character so true to life that I could identify with her central character, Lauren beautifully. A woman who needs to be in charge as no one else will step up can become too independent. Sometimes it helps to let your man know that he is wanted even if he is not needed. The fact that failure is not always the worst thing that can happen to you is an important lesson. Its a beautiful read, and it may just give you a fresh perspective on what is truly important in life.

When Lauren is practically brought to bankruptcy thanks to her husband, she files for divorce. He may be a generous man prone to helping people, but giving away her life’s savings is not something Lauren takes easily. As the divorce proceedings reveal a previously undisclosed asset, a barn, that Greg had never mentioned before Lauren is happy to have it allotted to her. Especially when she discovers an old Merry Go Round in it, which she feels can be restored and sold for a fair price.

Greg feels guilty about the bad decisions which have caused the end of their marriage and he hopes to make it all up to Lauren, but she doesn’t seem to be in any mood to listen to him. His father in law is on his side, and the hypochondriac old man manages to meddle in Lauren’s life enough for her to wish him someplace else. This is compounded by the fact that she comes home one day to find Greg using her shower! Lauren is also shuffling a new love interest after her office assistant pushes her to begin dating again.

Every character brings depth to the book and the situations go from heart breaking to hilarious as the story swings through its ups and downs. Totally recommend this read!
