Book Description

Jess Barnes was a rising star in the Information Ministry before she and her crewmates were kidnapped by Xaravian barbarians. She longs for her old life and friends. She can also live without bounty hunters chasing her down in every part of the universe. When one poisons her, Jess is in a race against time to find a cure for the odd condition that sets her heart racing -- made worse by the attention of sexy second-in-command Trazzak.

Trazzak likes order and rules, but Jessalyn brings total chaos to his life and the Galaxos, with bounty hunters and Alliance spies right behind her. When he starts to uncover the many secrets Jess has buried, Trazzak wonders if he should turn her in for betraying the rebellions... or get a lot closer.

Jess doesn’t know who to trust, and hardly even trusts herself as she battles bounty hunters, arms dealers, and the poison in her blood. When the Alliance offers her the antidote and her old life back -- in exchange for betraying her crewmates, the Xaravians, and the entire rebellion -- will Jess choose loyalty to her friends and her growing feelings for Trazzak over her own life?

Book Review

The adventures of the Earther women with the Galoxos crew continue with Jess. The cultural attache is actually an intelligence officer. We discovered that fact in the last book of the series when she went to bat for the team wanting to rescue a former colleague. Now she's trying to clear up the bounty on their heads by dealing directly with the Ministry.

She needs to believe that the Minister is corruption free, and that he will save her friends. Unfortunately her meeting with the contact at the ministry makes her a target for bounty hunters. Now her blood is poisoned and she has little time to complete one last mission which can save her friends from a lifetime of harassment.

She doesn't believe she will survive the poison anyhow. She definitely has no time for love, and certainly not for the Xaravian Trazzak. The story is predictable, but the twists and turns are fun to read. I'm actually happy this one wasn't too focused on the love angle. Book was good. Looking forward to the next in series.
