Book Description

When a girl runs away from the circus…
For all her sixteen years, Pearl Poseidon has been a fish out of water. A freak on display for her adoptive parents’ profit. Running away from her horrible life, she craves one thing—anonymity. But when she saves a small boy from drowning she exposes herself and her mutant abilities to Chase, a budding investigative reporter.
Now, he has questions. And so do the police.
Once Pearl discovers her secret identity, she learns she’s part of a larger war between battling Atlanteans. A battle that will decide who rules the oceans. A battle raging between evil and her true family. Will she find a way to use her powers in time to save a kingdom she never knew existed?

Book Review

Pearl (that name is so appropriate for a deep sea dweller) is a teenager who has had a miserable life so far. Her ability to breathe underwater had made her into a freak to be exhibited by her adoptive parents who are part of a circus. When she finally manages to run away she's determined to keep that fact from everyone around her so no one ever gets to take advantage of her again. Then a boy falls into the water at the amusement park and she jumps in to save him.

Chase is the nephew of the amusement park owner. He notices that Pearl was down in the water way longer than humanly possible. He befriends her to learn her secret. He is an investigative journalist and he has his life all planned out. A scoop like this could make his reputation.

When Pearl learns of his treachery she decides to swim away. In the ocean she makes new friends, learns of a whole new world and is surprised to hear of a whole war going on underwater. She needs to decide if she really wants to be a part of the power struggle in the ocean, or return to the shore and try to piece her life together.

Emotional drama over Pearl's life was heart breaking. Just how much more does a teenage girl have to bear? Lot of intrigue, and hints of things to come. Looking forward to the next book in the series to see just how Pearl matures. The book had well developed primary characters, an interesting plot, and a hook to keep you wanting to come back for more!

Book Description

Isla Lennox is the best interpreter aboard the Alliance ship Argo -- if the captain would ever give her a chance to do her job. When he finally does, Isla's big break turns into chaos and panic as she and all the female crew members are traded to an alien ship in exchange for the Argo's safe passage. The giant Xaravian warriors are intimidating, covered in scales, and... way too attractive. Isla and her friends won't surrender quietly, but it seems like the Xaravians are looking forward to that kind of fight.

The moment Vaant sees the beautiful, sassy interpreter, he knows he can't leave her in danger. She thinks he's a pirate and a dangerous rebel -- and that he bought her and her friends. Vaant must prove his honorable intentions, even as her flashing eyes and curvy figure drives him mad with desire. He'll even endanger his ship and go to the edge of the universe to keep her safe.

When her former captain frames Vaant for destroying an innocent ship and murdering another crew, Isla must face that the Alliance she served so proudly is not what it seems. Starting a new life as a rebel with Vaant sounds more and more appealing, but first they'll have to fight through half the Alliance fleet, escape a crumbling space station, and find love among the stars.

Book Review

Good start to a new series. Love the Earther women depicted in the book. Strong, skilled, stubborn and opinionated. Absolutely made for adventures around the universe. I hope the aliens suffer less broken bones when confronting the women in the next book!

Book Description

1289 A.D. - Sir Kevin Hage, stinging over the loss of the object of his affections to the Welsh warrior known as the Serpent, drowns himself in warfare in order to forget his heartache. He travels to The Levant to fight the Muslim infidels, transforming himself in the process. He becomes hardened, brutal, and heroic and returns to England a changed man, an English assassin known as the Scorpion.

Now on the home front, he must fight a battle greater than himself - the fear of loving a woman under extraordinarily difficult circumstances. With all odds against them, follow Kevin and his lady on their journey of discovery, adventure, and an awakening love that is stronger than all the stars in the heavens in this unforgettable Medieval romance.

Book Review

This is the third book in the series that I have read. Mainly because I really wanted to know what happened to poor Kevin. Apparently he did very well for himself in the Levant and returned with a reputation so formidable that the King demanded to meet him. Of course the next assignment he was given came to bite him in the a$$. Anna and Kevin's story also has a number of historical activities like the tournament thrown in, which was interesting to read about.

Book Description

1283 A.D. – Edward I is in the midst of his campaign to tame the Welsh, but rising from the chaos is a Welsh knight known as the Serpent. With a deadly strike, Sir Bhrodi ap Gaerwen de Shera is a warrior of tremendous range and power. Descended from the kings of Anglesey on his mother’s side and the earls of Coventry on his father’s, Bhrodi is in the unique position of having Welsh royalty and English nobility, making him a very big player in Edward’s war in Wales. The English king cannot subdue the Welsh completely as long as Bhrodi resists, and all of Northern Wales with him. Edward is shrewd and knows he must make an alliance of pure power and politics with de Shera. With that in mind, Edward calls upon the mightiest warrior of the north, the legendary William de Wolfe, to pledge one of his daughters to de Shera.

William is honored by the king’s calling but he is also relieved; having lost one of his sons the year before in the wars in Wales, he pledges his youngest daughter, Lady Penelope Adalira de Wolfe, to be the Serpent’s bride. But the Lady Penelope is no ordinary woman; raised by knights, she has been trained by the best and, in spite of her mother’s protests, she fights like a knight. Exquisitely beautiful with dark hair and hazel eyes, she is an unearthly beauty and a fine legacy for the mighty de Wolfe. But Penelope has no desire to be a bartered bride and she resists the king’s directive, but her reluctance is futile. She must marry the Welshman known as the Serpent, bringing together two mighty houses and peace to two nations.

Introduced into an alien Welsh world of brutality and unfamiliar customs, Penelope and Bhrodi are resistant to each other at first. Bhrodi, however, is intrigued with the woman who looks like an angel but fights like the Devil himself. Their first few days together are difficult but as they come to know each other, Bhrodi comes to see a woman who is as compassionate as she is courageous. There is far more to the Lady Penelope than meets the eye. He comes to understand that she is as unique as he is, both of them understanding what it means to be loyal and brave and trusting. She understands a knight’s heart, and he understands hers, and a legendary love story begins to unfold.

Join Bhrodi and Penelope as they journey together through a world where the English and the Welsh threatened to destroy one another, where the greed of men breeds great hatred yet great valor. When Bhrodi is injured in a skirmish, Penelope steps in for her husband to lead the Serpent’s men against the hated English and realizes she must face her own father on the battlefield.

Will Penelope survive the Wolfe? Or will the Serpent's strike become her very own, conquering those she loves? Live the adventure.

Book Review

The story is a sequel to the De Wolf Origins of the DeWolf Pack, but it's as good as a stand alone. If you have read the first book you will enjoy revisiting the characters, but it's the new generation that's the focus in this book. Again a whole lot of action, and I love the link up to the modern age that the author threw in. Nice to have a scientific explanation for the monster, but it was a solid story. Enjoyed Penny and Bhrodi's story. It's nice to read of a woman being accepted as a warrior by her husband, especially in a historical novel.

These are the dark days of dark times, but in the midst of a treacherous world of secrets and hatred, William and Jordan share a love that is only dreamt of. Come and be a part of the journey of The Wolf and his lady that transcends time.

Book Review

Much longer than the regular romance novels, this book has a number of stories playing out simultaneously. I enjoyed the way the author tied all the strings together and wove them into a rich tapestry.

Book Description

'Death is important to a man, but survival is more important to a woman.' With a split destiny ruling her life, Kunti, given away at birth, leads a hard but uneventful existence in her foster-father's home. At fourteen she is pressed into the service of the temperamental sage Durvasa who grants her a boon. Its first use, however, only brings her adversity and a shameful secret. With marriage to Pandu, Kunti dreams of a better future, but a curse makes him leave the throne of Hastinapur to his sibling, the blind Dhritarashtra, and retreat to the forest. The births of the five Pandavas rekindle Kunti's hopes of returning to Hastinapur, but these are destroyed once again when Pandu dies suddenly. Kunti journeys to the kingdom, no longer its queen but a widow, a dependant as are her sons. She must now take up the task of guiding them through the long struggle to get their inheritance, a struggle made harder by the discovery that the illegitimate child she had abandoned long ago is alive and a sworn enemy of the Pandavas. Recasting the Mahabharata from the viewpoint of Kunti, The Kaunteyas replaces the idealized mother figure with a fully three-dimensional woman, providing new insights into the epic.

Book Review

While "Palace of Illusions" was written from Draupadi's point of view, this book is written from Kunti's point of view. The actual battle is barely mentioned, but her early years are the main focus. The author tries to give us a feel of what life must have been for a girl to be given away at birth to a king who was childless by her own father. To grow up knowing that you were not really a part of the palace and others merely tolerated you. To chose a husband who you felt would give you a better life, only to have that dream crumble when he chose to marry a second time. To live through his death and raise five boys on your own.
Essentially she's like the tragedy queen of the Mahabharat, and while it was interesting reading about things from her perspective, it was not as entertaining as "A Forest of Stories." Worth a read if you are really interested in the woman's point of view.

Book Description

As the family gathers at the hospital and surprise after surprise wreaks havoc with all of Nat's careful planning, she'll have to face a heart-wrenching choice: save her kids or lose everything else, maybe even her life.

Book Review

This book is only to be read after you have finished the rest of the books in the City Shifters series. It's a tying of old lose strings and bringing together of new ones. It's a transition book where the Chase brothers are all with mates and now dealing with kids and marriage. It also still leaves a few unanswered questions like what happened to Smith, will the gorgons invade and of course Badcreek is still out there waiting to strike. On the whole I enjoyed reading about how all the characters have progressed.

Yet a family emergency pulls him away, leaving her alone. Again. Was she a fool to let him into her heart? Or can they turn their brief affair into a lifetime of love?

Book Review

The third book in the Paradise Cove series brings us the story of Brittany. The talented dancer has been working in Miami and is pregnant with a baby that the father does not want. She returns home to lick her wounds and is surrounded by the love of her mother and sisters.

Chase is there to make good on following his dreams of creative writing. A month away from his maddening job with the promise of his play being considered by a friend who may produce it is enough to get him started, but he's lost his muse.

Brittany brings his writing to life and when he's there to help her when she miscarries, they both bond. He sees her for who she really is, behind that brash and confident face. He can see the vulnerable little girl and he wants to protect her, celebrate her. She's not too happy with how he decides to do that...Very nice rounding out of the series.

Book Review

This has got to be one of the cutest, funniest stories I've read in a while. The girl goes around literally chasing the hottest a$$ that she sees at a rodeo while the clown keeps targeting her. The book was really fun to read. The characters where quirky and cute. Nice light reading.
