Book Description

After the heart-shattering ending of her first serious relationship, eighteen-year-old Sophie has sworn off love. Now that school is behind her, she plans to travel the world and form as few attachments as possible. The only exception: Lex, the artist on the other end of the Internet who chats to her almost every day. A guy she can never lose--since she doesn't actually have him to begin with.

Sophie's plan can start as soon as she's faked her way through her sister's wedding. Pretending to be happy and excited for the next week or two should be easy, right? But that was before Caleb walked onto the scene ... Best man to Sophie's almost-brother-in-law, Caleb is infuriatingly friendly and determined to get a real smile out of Sophie. Forced together through dance classes and wedding-related disasters, Sophie is determined not to like him. And terrified when she ends up failing.

Then Lex suggests he and Sophie should meet, and all Sophie's careful plans for the future begin to unravel. Now the girl who was never meant to fall for anyone must figure out what to do with the two guys tugging at her heart.

Book Review

I think this series is a brilliant one. It deals with a host of issues that teens face and brings up solutions which one would not have though of. Sophie is happy for her sister and the wedding is taking up a great deal of everyone's time and effort. Unfortunately Sophie is not in the mood for celebrating life, the reason is revealed in the book. She's feeling too guilty to live, except online with a friend who is as talented an artist as she is. Then Caleb shows up for the wedding as the Best Man and refuses to be put off by her attitude. He's found out her secret and loves it, but will she forgive him when he reveals his own?

Book Description

England, 1651: Christmas has been outlawed by the new Commonwealth government—but that won’t stop Lady Chrystabel Trevor from embracing the holiday spirit. When she finds herself snowed in with handsome and intriguing Joseph Ashcroft, the Viscount Tremayne, merrymaking leads to mayhem. In a time of fear and oppression, can the magic of Christmas bring two hearts together?

Book Review

Chrystabel & Joseph Ashcroft are extremely unusual parents. They tie into the Chase family romances once Ford comes into the life of Violet, their eldest daughter. As much as I have enjoyed the inventive Ford and the intellectual Violet's story, it was interesting to get an insight into her parents who are always questioning convention.

At a time when Royalist families were being persecuted and Chrystabel has to flee to Wales with her brother and sister, the last thing she expects is to find shelter with the Ashcrofts and fall in love with their son. Unfortunately that son is trying to save his childhood friend from an unsavory future by marrying her.

It's a beautiful story speaking of the difficulties that people of that time endured. Imagine being forbidden to celebrate Christmas?Of course that's not
going to happen with Chrystabel around.

Book Description

Andi’s been in love with the boy next door for years. She’s convinced Damien’s the perfect guy for her. So it’s probably nota good idea to pretend to be his girlfriend to help him snag the attention of someone else. But Andi knows it won’t be for long. Soon enough, Damien will figure out he loves her too, and their fake relationship will become a real one.

Damien’s best friend Noah is the complete opposite of Mr Perfect: rude and annoying, with trouble-maker written all over him. Definitely not Andi’s type. Which makes it all the more confusing when she realises how much she likes spending time with him.

When the fake relationship plan starts working, Andi should be overjoyed. It’s what she wanted, right? Except … what if perfect isn’t so perfect after all? What if messy, imperfect, and real are exactly what she needs?

Book Review

The series continues with Andi's story. The step sister. Apparently she was Damien's neighbour. They have been close friends and she has had a crush on him forever. What she wishes is for him to see her as an attractive woman instead of a little girl. She can't be happier when it begins to happen. What she does not anticipate is Noah, and how despite being so very different from her, he is just right for her. Another sweet read filled with teenage angst and some surprises along the way.

For Livi Howard, high school sucked. Orchestra Geek, Choir Monkey, The Ginger … and the labels didn’t end there. But high school is behind her now, and fabulous university life is ahead. Let Project ‘Ditch the Nerd’ begin!

Adam Anderson is a nerd and proud of it. His university plans include computer studies, Xbox marathons, and reruns of his favourite sci-fi TV shows. Watching his best friend Livi transform herself into a person he barely recognises was never on the list.

With Project ‘Ditch the Nerd’ a success, Livi thinks she finally has it all—except for the part where she’s growing further and further away from Adam. When a party goes south, Livi is forced to reconsider the lengths she’ll go to be accepted by the ‘right’ people. How far is too far? And will she ever be able to find her way back to herself—and to the guy who’s been in front of her all along?

Book Review

This book is the second in the series but can easily work as a stand alone. It's Sarah's friend Livi's book. Livi is on a mission to lose the nerd status that plagued her in high school when she goes to college. Adam is trying to explain to her that she doesn't need to change herself and forget about her old hobbies like playing the violin.

Of course things get even more messy when Adam breaks up with long distance and long time girl friend Jenna. Can Livi forget her need to be with the in crowd long enough to actually be there for her best friend when he needs her? Of course she can deal with that.

What she and Adam both didn't count on dealing with is their crazy attraction to each other...Now the question is, will they act on it? Or do they prefer to be in the friend zone forever?

Book Description

England, 1677: The last of three sisters to marry, Lady Rose Ashcroft is determined to land a wealthy, titled husband—a marquess perhaps, or even a duke. Having had her heart broken in the past, she's decided the key to enticing a man lies in hiding her intelligence and academic interests while flaunting her more feminine qualities. Matchmaking mother in tow and strategy firmly in place, Rose heads off to Charles II's court to find love...
And runs smack dab into Christopher "Kit" Martyn, the one man who could ruin all her plans. Kit is a dashing, successful commoner with his sights set on landing the post of official Royal Architect—and he's the only man Rose feels she can honestly talk to about anything. Kit knows the true Rose, and he wants her, but she thinks of him as a family friend. Can he convince her that a title is unimportant compared to the passion he knows they're destined to share?

Book Review

Rose has always been the romantic who wanted to marry a title. After she loses Rand to Lily, she decides a change in scene is due and goes to court. She's always down played her skills and brains, but with Kit, she can be herself.

He's got no title, he's just a commoner who happens to be a friend of the family. What he's got is ambition to become the Royal Architect. He also wants to marry Rose, but how is he going to get her to see him as more than an old friend?

It was interesting to see the references to Wren in the story, made it more real. Now Rose has to decide if she wants love or power.

Book Description

England, 1677: Lily Ashcroft is far and away the most conventional member of her eccentric family. Though she fell for dashing Oxford professor Lord Randal Nesbitt at the tender age of sixteen, she buried her feelings in deference to society's expectation that her older sisters marry first. Four years later, her sister Rose has now set her sights on Rand—and though it breaks her heart, what else can Lily do but help her beloved sister land the man of her dreams?
What no one considers are Rand's feelings on the matter. He's been nursing a secret affection for sweet, compassionate Lily ever since their first meeting. But Rose is just as beautiful and shares his academic interests. Now he finds himself caught between two lovely sisters—the one he's expected to wed and the one who's captured his heart...

Book Review

Lily is the gentle one, not aggressive like Rose. She's had a crush on Randal for a long time, but now Rose wants to marry him. With her sister expected to wed before her Lily decides to step back, only to realize that Rand is equally set on her.

Rand's unhappy childhood and face off with his father are more bearable when Lily is around to tame them. Her affinity to animals and her tender, bleeding heart are easy to fall for. Rand's a goner, but he feels that she should have better than what he has to offer.

Of course the two so them manage to get through their limited thinking and hook up in the end.

Book Description

Sarah doesn’t talk to strangers. It’s awkward, stressful, and there’s the uncontrollable blushing to worry about. When she boards a plane to fly home after an overseas holiday, she plans to stick her nose in a book and ignore everyone around her.

Aiden’s terrified of flying, and it’s his first time on a plane. If he can distract himself by talking non-stop for the entire flight, he will. Too bad for Sarah he’s sitting right next to her.

Against all Sarah’s expectations, she ends up enjoying Aiden’s company. They laugh, argue, concoct stories about other passengers, and accidentally hold hands during the turbulence. When the time comes to say goodbye, Sarah can’t help the crazy thought that she shouldn’t let Aiden go.

Then he kisses her.

And then he’s gone.

With her world turning upside down in more ways than one, Sarah has to make a decision: stick with the safe, predictable life that’s been mapped out for her, or find the courage to go after what she truly wants.

Book Review

I really enjoyed reading this young adult book. Most of us have irrational fears and the author gives both her main characters fears that we can identify with. She then proceeds to blend in a romance and real life complications so beautifully in the story. It was fun reading about South African cultural references. The story has universal appeal and is the sort of thing that could happen to anyone. There was also the underlying lesson that if you wake up and work for what you want, you can definitely have it

Book Review

Zoe's living the average American Teenager's life till she finds out that her best friend is actually her Guardian Angel. The guy she has a crush on is a Nephilim. And the girl she gets along with famously at school is truly a Summer Fairy. yeah and if that's not enough she needs to be ready to stop the Devil himself from taking over the realms when she turns 18 in a couple of months. Of course she has no idea how she's going to do that and is half convinced they have got the wrong girl.

Then a werewolf shows up and joins her guard wagon and she's just about had enough with the demons trying to attack her at every party and mall. Book Review

A high school student dealing with visions and powers that run in the family, a nosy cousin, a concerned boy friend, a demanding best friend and her job as a gliding instructor. It's a well written story about a girl who has to overcome much in life to even approach something called normalcy. There are chill,s thrills and a superb climax which will leave you biting your nails. I swear there were times I wanted to jump right into the book to help them prove who did it!
