Laid Evander Mackenzie is in a tough place with no money and no food, most of his people starving. When he gets the chance to marry Lady Diana Stuart for an handsome dowry, he jumps at the chance. What he doesn't know is that his bride to be is a hell cat. She can fight, look after herself and comes with a pair of deadly wolves.
Diana has never known love and tenderness since her mother died. Her father has tried to control her wild and stubborn nature and failed spectacularly. She's had to endure imprisonment, starvation and unwanted attention of suitors before she's drugged and kidnapped. Naturally she's in no mood to be helpful to Evander. Even if he's shown her more tenderness than she's seen in years.
I loved the way this relationship evolved from hostility to truce to eventually love.
