Book Description
England, 1673: The Ashcroft family motto is "Question Convention," and eldest sister Violet agrees with the sentiment completely. For one thing, she's not planning to marry. Plain Violet is smart enough to realize any suitors would be after her large inheritance, or else interested in her beautiful younger sisters—and she'd much rather spend her time improving her mind than risking her tender heart...
Having wasted six years wooing a lady who eloped with another man, Ford Chase, Viscount Lakefield, has had it with women. Ford would much rather spend his time pursuing the sciences and constructing the first watch with a minute hand. Having his young niece dropped in his lap proves an unwelcome, annoying distraction...until an uncommonly intelligent neighbor named Violet comes to help...
Book Review
This is the story of Ford and Violet. The sweet version of the original book called Violet. The intellectual and scholarly Ford Chase is trying his best to come to terms with baby sitting his niece Jewel while the rest of her family suffers from measles. That's when Violet's Mum steps in with what seems to him a brilliant idea to keep Jewel occupied.
Rowan and Jewel can play together leaving Ford free to his own devices while Violet baby sits them. Then as plans often do, it all falls apart because it's not just Jewel who is looking forward to visits from their neighbours. I love that he made her spectacles. That was just such a sweet gesture! I received the book as a gift from the authors in return for my honest opinion

Will he pass the daddy test?
With his job in jeopardy, it couldn’t be a worse time for Sheriff Nate Landry’s recent past to come back to haunt him. But it would take an army to stop SWAT team leader Julie Smith. The fellow cop–and sister of his ex-fiancé—wants one thing from the beleaguered lawman: custody of the toddler son that Nate didn’t know he had.
He may not be natural daddy material, but he quickly takes a shine to little Duke. And there are the feelings Nate’s been hiding for years. Only now Julie’s running for sheriff of Harmony Valley—against him. Time to retreat? Not if he wants a future with the woman he loves.
Book Review
I've always enjoyed the Harmony Valley stories. A town of geriatrics creating opportunities for the town to return to it's former glory. The young, often troubled, souls that come drifting into town. Looking for and finding a niche to settle down into. This book is no exception.
For those of you who remember Sheriff Nate Landry from previous books, including the pink wedding gown that he was gifted, you will be happy to know that he does indeed find his match in this book. Julie was his partner in his previous job. What is a surprise is Duke. The little one who was born to Julie's sister battling with cancer.
One doesn't think a guy as honorable as Nate would leave a pregnant, cancer survivor behind, but the circumstances did play into just that happening. This story is about the Daddy Test, and if Julie can stay long enough to administer it, and also if Nate can get over his own past demons to survive it.
Beautiful story, rich characters and as usual interesting side lines into the town's residents.

Book Description
England & Scotland, 1668: Kendra Chase's brothers are telling her it's high time she get married. But although they've presented her with many wealthy, titled suitors, no man has caught her fancy—until her coach is held up by a dashing, mysterious highwayman. When she and the dangerous man are caught in a compromising embrace and her overprotective brothers insist they wed, Kendra cannot believe it. Are they really desperate enough to match her with an outlaw?
Scottish-born Patrick "Trick" Caldwell is the Duke of Amberley—and also the notorious Black Highwayman, an identity he has assumed in order to right past wrongs and serve his king. But his already complicated life becomes positively convoluted when he finds himself compelled to marry a red-headed temptress he's only just met. Caught in a web of half-truths and forced into a perilous mission, can Trick extricate himself and find love with the woman destined to steal his heart?
Book Review
Kendra's a bit of a tomboy, given the fact that she's the only girl among all the Chase brothers. She's had a fairly unconventional upbringing on the continent and is not really interested in the silly suitors at court. However her brothers think it's high time she settled down. In a fit she rides out on her own only to be held up by the highwayman.
What she doesn't know is that the mysterious highway man is actually Trick Caldwell, her brother's friend and also the Duke of Amberly. Her brother's willingness to give her in marriage to a man who seems to be nothing more than an outlaw causes her more than a mild panic attack. Of course things get sorted out in the end and they do get their HEA.

Book Description
England, 1667: Sensible Clarice Bradford is content in her widowhood. She has a pretty one-room cottage and a lovely little daughter, and the last thing she wants is another husband. Until one fairytale evening when she's invited to a wedding at a castle...
Scottish gentleman Sir Cameron Leslie is smitten with the shy, English beauty at first sight. He's fiercely drawn to the very strength and independence that make her unwilling to throw caution to the wind and bestow her heart on a younger man. Though passion flares between them, it will take everything Cameron can muster to reawaken Clarice's long-forgotten dreams of true love...
Book Review
In the last book of the series, Emerald, we met the widow Clarice Bradford who adopts the orphan Mary. The widow has a purpose to life again when the cherubic little victim of the London fire ends up in her home. What she did not count on is the attention of a Scottish gentleman.
Sir Cameron Leslie is in England for his cousin's wedding, not to find a bride of his own. Yet as he spends more time with Clarice he realizes that she is perfect for him. Clarice is a victim of domestic abuse and not quite so ready to trust her heart to a man determined to play her fairy tale prince.
The story is a tender and gentle love story which brings the vulnerabilities of both characters to the front. While not directly related to the Chase Family it makes enjoyable reading and provides a nice tying up of loose ends on the Scottish side of the family.
