Book Description
When Harper Preston finds himself flat in a hospital bed after a botched op, he’s okay with dealing with the fallout. If he dies, he’s lived well past his expiration date. The only people that will notice his passing are the guys he works with at Lost and Found Investigative Service.
Then his estranged wife arrives.
Cat Preston is thankful and horrified when she’s called to her husband’s side. He’s been shot. Again. But now that she’s found him she’s going to make the most of the opportunity. If it were up to Harper, she would be out of his life completely because he thinks it's the best thing for the family.
With a little SEAL abduction (for his own good of course) maybe she can convince him otherwise...
Book Review
This book deals with yet another veteran disability. PTSD is finally being addressed in this series. I really admire the author's ability to create such engrossing stories based on war veterans while highlighting the challenges that they face when they return to society.
We first met Harper as the back up John called in to protect Shannon. Now we find out why he refuses to be anywhere near his wife and kids, even though they miss him and want him to be with them.

Book Description
NYU freshman Nate Anderson is a triplet who is desperate to escape his wild and crazy brothers. After they screw things up for him one too many times, Nate flees his housing situation and takes the first available room for rent as far from his brothers as he can get.
Enter his new roommate Jordan--a quirky LA girl who believes that everything in life has already been done in the movies. In this heartfelt tale of love, friendship and family, Nate learns how to deal with his new adult life using Hollywood films as a guide.
Book Review
If you enjoyed Cinder and Ella by Kelly Oram, you are going to love this one too. Nate is dying to get some privacy from his brothers. It isn't easy being the odd one out in the Anderson triplets, but he's just about lost it when his brothers ruin the music project he's been working so hard on.
He wants to be alone. Away from his brothers and even his girlfriend. A chance encounter with Pearl at a coffee shop gets him a possible new place to stay. Jordan is a movie major and appreciates his musical inclination.
Suddenly Nate finds out exactly what has been missing in his life so far. Only now he needs to chance the direction of his life to align better with Jordan. It's a really sweet story and the characters are quirky but well defined. You find your emotions rising and falling with the character's fate. A good read.

Joslyn needs a fresh start.
Adam needs a getaway.
This year at Thanksgiving, a feisty old woman may bring them both a miracle.
After the loss of her husband in the war three years ago, Joslyn Alexander is unable to relinquish the ghosts that keep her from truly living again. Instead, she’s immersed herself in the care of her aging great-aunt. But as Aunt Marion’s Alzheimer’s progresses, Joslyn and her brothers must face the reality that she alone can no longer care for her. As the siblings seek a long-term care facility, Joslyn realizes that life goes on, even in the face of tragedy and loss.
Adam Turner is worn out. After taking over as director of the failing memory care facility a year ago, he’s turned the place into a thriving community for its residents. Now, all he wants is a few days off. But as he watches his Thanksgiving plans disappear in an unexpected winter storm, he’s left wondering how much more he can handle—until an unlikely invitation from a heartbroken woman brings him the respite he needs.
This year, all the characters from A Miracle Short Story series come together for Thanksgiving in an unusual place. As Aunt Marion regales their Thanksgiving guests with stories of love and loss, Joslyn and Adam realize there’s more to give thanks for this year than they ever imagined. Through grief and tragedy, there is hope.
Book Review
I've not read the stories before this book in the series, but it reads fine as a standalone as well. Joslyn is full of guilt and grief for having to place her aunt in a care home. Adam is in charge of said home and meets with the patient's family before Aunt Marion is shifted.
Adam admires Joslyn for how she has lovingly handled her aunt's Alzheimer. He personally knows how difficult it is for the caregiver to let go. There is an attraction there that he wants to pursue, but will Joslyn be prepared for that big a step? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

She didn't expect to land in the crosshairs of a serial killer. Can two displaced angels save a woman from the clutches of a vicious psychopath?
When Julie Crenshaw is offered a news reporter's job on beautiful Vancouver Island she didn't expect to land in the crosshairs of a serial killer.Connor O'Rourke has seen his share of human depravities during his fourteen years as a homicide detective, but is still sickened by the murderer terrorizing his island shores.
And threatening his key witness. As the stakes rise, can two people get a second chance at love? Or will a killer become the winner?
Book Review
Julie is having a tough time moving on with life after her husband dies in the accident with movie star Lucas. She's moved to a new town to try and pick up the pieces with her two boys. Then she discovers the remains of a young woman's body.
The investigating officer is Connor. He's after a serial killer and realizes that Julie is a prime target now. She's just like all the other women who have been abducted. He needs to keep her safe, and catch the killer, hopefully without falling in love with her.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. It was different from the first book and I am still hoping to find out what happened to Scott's sister, but hey there was a lot of action in the book. Guess we'll see what the angels are up to in the next book in the series.

Book Description
**Protecting Caroline is a stand-alone love story. It’s Book 1 in the SEAL of Protection Series.**
Matthew “Wolf” Steel hated flying commercial. Luckily his job as a Navy SEAL meant he didn’t have to do it very often. He’d been unlucky enough to be assigned a middle seat on the cramped jet, but fortunately for him, the woman next to him was willing to switch seats with him. Hoping for a relaxing flight, Wolf was pleasantly surprised at the good conversation and sense of humor the woman had as they flew 36,000 feet over the countryside.
When Caroline boarded the plane to Virginia to move across the country for her new job she never expected to be seated next to the hottest guy she’d ever seen. She also never expected he’d be so easy to talk to. She knew he’d never be interested in talking to her if he hadn’t been trapped in the seat next to her, but it was a nice way to spend a long plane ride.
Neither Wolf nor Caroline were prepared for a terrorist hijacking of their plane, but if Caroline thought that would be the last time she’d see, or need, Wolf, she’d be sorely mistaken.
Book Review
Wolf is happy with his SEAL team and their missions, but looking for a love like his parents have. Caroline is content being the quiet and unobserved person in the room. No one notices her and she's okay with that. Then the two of them end up together on a flight seated next to each other.
What they were not expecting is the terrorists out to hijack the plane. What Wolf was not expecting was her strength and bravery. What Caroline was not expecting was SEALs never leave a teammate behind. The plot is good, the characters ring true and the story comes together really well. And the best part is it's a sweet romance.

Book Description
In the harrowing prequel to The Lost and Found series, three embattled Marines must deal with their devastating physical and emotional injuries in a world that seems to have turned against them.
When the rescue helicopter crashes into his convoy in Iraq, Marine First Sergeant Duncan Wilde struggles with the loss of men, his career and the use of his body. Things can't get much worse. Until his fiancée decides she has to move on with her life, and that of her unborn child by another man.
Sergeant Chad Lowell knew when he went to war that it would come with a price. And it did.
A young Marine under his command is killed by a landmine. Chad's left with one less leg and a mountain of recriminations. That doesn't mean he wants to be a pitied by every female he comes in contact with.
Gunnery Sergeant John Palmer is furious at the hand he's been dealt. He's served his country faithfully, if not without antagonism, for many years. Now they're turning him out like a relative who has overstayed his welcome. And, since he's not even a real man anymore, maybe it is time to move on permanently.
Can these wounded warriors use a friendship borne out of adversity to form a partnership rescuing others? And can they find real love in spite of their challenges?
Book Review
Okay, so I'm enjoying the series enough to want to read the free prequel that the author wrote. Must say it was fun going through the flashback to find out exactly how Duncan, Chad and John came together to form Lost and Found. If you are enjoying the other books, you will not want to miss this book.

She’s been self-sufficient for a long time. But his wounded soul calls to her and she finds herself falling for him.
In spite of the secrets he continues to keep.
Book Review
At one point of time Zeke was living the American dream, high school football star, popular boy and then a promising career as a soldier. It all came to a crashing halt when a wall fell on him during an explosion on a mission.
Now dealing with partial brain damage, Zeke is lucky if the words cooperate with him when he wants to say something. Rather than stay with his family who have no idea how to deal with him, he chooses to stay with his military family at Lost and Found.
He's making slow progress and knows life will never be the same. The last thing he expects when coming to terms with the changes in his abilities is Ember. She's the waitress at the bar they go to, and she's always very kind to them, and him. When she is in trouble, Zeke knows he will do anything to help her.

Book Description
John Palmer hasn’t felt like a real man since he was injured during combat in Iraq. Though not content with his new life, he is mostly adapting, just like the other vets at the Lost ‘N’ Found Investigative Service. When Shannon Murphy is hired on as the new office manager, life suddenly gets a lot more interesting. Before long, John finds himself wondering if he could ever be the kind of man Shannon needs.
Shannon Murphy wasn’t really looking for love when she hired on at LNF, but finds herself hopelessly attracted to the sex-on-wheels former Marine, John Palmer. The man is grumpy and nearly impossible to work with, but his brand of masculinity appeals to her on a basic level. Soon Shannon is wondering just what it would take for John to want her the way she wants him.
When an old enemy tries to settle a vendetta against Shannon, John insists on protecting her. He moves into her house, fanning the spark of attraction into a blaze. But the danger continues to escalate. Will the connection that they’ve found survive when they’re thrust into a fight for their lives?
Book Review
It's the start of a fantastic series where the author deals with veterans who have returned with disabilities. John's a grumpy man and doesn't see his life getting any better. Then Duncan pulls Chad and him to found the Lost and Found agency. They hire more veterans and gain a good reputation. Then Shannon comes to work for the firm and John doesn't know what hit him. He wants her, but how could she ever want him? A beautiful tale told with compassion and in depth understanding. Loved the book.

Book Review
Dealing with her ex husband's death would have been bad enough but to realize that he was an addict who was peddling drugs was worse. It's a small town romance where Annabelle has returned home to start afresh. Unfortunately a past hurt unknowingly follows her into town. Now she wants to expose him for the fraud she knows him to be. However his actions and words seem at odds with his behaviour in the past.
Can Annabelle get over her desire for revenge to give Rick a chance to explain himself? And can Rick actually manage to give her said explanation? Love the Gamification concept she wants to use to get to him. Good read.

When handsome cynic, Justin Dane Burgess rescues big-hearted Lilly Johansen in the snow, his life is turned upside down. An orphan from a young age, Lilly has learned to create her own family wherever she is. Although Justin seems anti-Christmas, he sure is generous to her. She has been misled by men before. Can she trust her feelings for Justin? Or will a bad choice Justin makes ruin their chance for forever love?
Book Review
It's a typical feel good Christmas story that involves the spirit of giving. Justin wants to be charitable, but without physically involving himself. Lilly works hard to make that little difference in the lives of people as she has benefited from this care as a young child herself.
She manages to fall and hurt herself and Justin comes to her rescue. She has no clue who he is, and he wants to keep it that way. Unfortunately after just one evening in her company, caring for her, he wants more. How are the two of them going to trust each other when he is harboring a secret?

Larissa has given up on the idea of ever walking down the aisle herself. These days, her idea of a perfect Saturday night is more likely to involve wine and on-demand movies than high heels and a push-up bra.

But will they share a night of fun or something more? With plenty of champagne and the blissful romance of a wedding, true love might just blossom.
Book Review
Would you go to a wedding expecting to meet a guy who takes one look at you and wants to marry you? That's exactly what happens with Mark and Larissa. After being jilted by his fiancee who runs off with the caterer, he's not looking for someone serious, but the more he sees of Larissa, the more he's tempted to take things to the next level. Really fun short story.

Josh Grady is a screwed up teen about to get another chance. After stealing a car, wrecking it in a terrible accident that puts his best friend in a coma, he is given a lucky break he's not sure he deserves. Instead of juvie, he's sent to Shining Star Boy's Ranch. Josh resents the rules, the counselors and the teachers, but most of all he hates the family atmosphere that reminds him of all he's lost. Journaling becomes an outlet that leads to self discovery. After many mistakes, Josh realizes that the hardest lesson of all to learn is forgiveness.
Book Review
This is a book that deals with some harsh realities. The main protagonist Josh is pretty much at the end of a rather long rope that he's been weaving to hang himself with. He's managed to get in to all kinds of trouble and as a last resort has been sent to Shining Star Boy's Ranch rather than juvenile prison.
Here he has a "family" of sorts that is rooting for him. Something he has no idea how to deal with. he's used to people blaming him, being angry at him and generally cussing him. He's not used to people trusting him, looking forward to his company and having faith in him. It's a beautiful story of self realization as Josh finally releases his anger and his angst to allow himself a new beginning in life.

Book Review
One has been following the adventures of Nicole and her friends through the series and this is the last book. The time traveling in the previous book ensured that Blake is alive and Chris is not poisoned. However Kate is still a stone statue and there is a lot more to do before they can defeat Typhoon. Nyx has given them a solution to seal the portal that Nicole can not accept. They are losing team members and Nicole refuses to give up Blake. She's out to find a solution even if she has to go to Hades to find one. The book has enough thrills and chills make it the best way to end the series. Must read!

Not every seventeen-year-old girl works part time granting wishes, but when you’re a genie, you have obligations. I’d rather spend my time rocking with my older brother’s band. I’ve been waiting years to replace the last drummer. Just when it’s looking good for me, Leo Fuller shows up, and this bad boy genie’ s after more than just my drummer gig.
Male genies are dangerous, volatile, bad-boy types, and I’m finding him way too attractive. If we’re caught together, we could both lose our powers and be banished to the other realm. I know helping Leo will be a really bad idea. What I don’t know is why I’m doing it anyway.
Book Review
Jen is a genie whose mother works for the U.N.I.V.E.R.S.E. and at Genie Communications. She is also a high school student who needs to finish homework even as she gets summoned to grant wishes for people who make enough karma points.
Leo is a male genie. He is not supposed to be anywhere near Jen. Yet when he asks for her help she can't refuse. The two of them about trying to absolve his father and break a number of rules in the process. What will happen to them when the Overseeing Committe catches on to them? All Cassie Caldwell wants for her sixteenth birthday is to finally be kissed. When Cassie’s older brother and his best friend—the lovable, sexy cowboy, Jared—discover her secret, Jared takes it upon himself to make sure her birthday wish comes true.
Book Review
After I finished reading Cinder & Ella (which I really enjoyed) I decided to check out on emore book from this author. She did not disappoint with Sixteen Kisses. It's a really cute tale of how Cassie is lamenting never having been kissed and thinking she is going to remain Kissless Cassie forever to her best friend when her elder brother's best friend overhears her.
Jared likes Cassie but he's not sure how she will take the transition from brother's friend to boyfriend. He sets in motion a way to get her kissed 16 times on her birthday. That way she will have enough experience to know when she gets a "real" kiss. This takes Cassie through all kinds of whacky situations and kisses on her birthday. The last one is the best.

Hollywood sensation Brian
Oliver has a reputation for being trouble. There's major buzz around his performance in his upcoming film The Druid Prince, but his management team says he won't make the transition from teen heartthrob to serious A-list actor unless he can prove he's left his wild days behind and become a mature adult. In order to douse the flames on Brian's bad-boy reputation, his management stages a fake engagement for him to his co-star Kaylee. Brian isn't thrilled with the arrangement-or his fake fiancée-but decides he'll suffer through it if it means he'll get an Oscar nomination. Then a surprise email from an old Internet friend changes everything.
Book Review
I thought it would be the regular fairy tale rewrite, but this book was a pleasant surprise. There was depth of character, good plot lines and seamless story execution. Sure it's climax was a cliche, but hey that's why we love fairy tales. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Cinder and Ella is a great option for young adult readers. Look forward to the next book in the series.
