Book Review

I downloaded this book as it was free on one of my newsletters, and I am so glad I did. The author makes you laugh as she puts her main character through an absolutely life altering situation which would be full of stress and strife in the real world. It brings together a mother -son duo who move from their existing life post divorce to a new one in a rambling old house left to the mother by her dead aunt. The house brings with it its own share of problems including farm animals such as goats, and dogs who have had the run of he place, problem toilets and a barn which loses its roof in the middle of preparations for a major party.

Thoroughly enjoyed the antics of the formidable Pippin as she makes way for a career and finds friends in a town that is not exactly without its own quirks. Love the way everything worked out in the end with the biggest liability she owned turning into an amazing asset. If you enjoy books which make you think about ordinary things in a new light, you will enjoy this read.

Book Review

This is the second book in the series and tells the story of Stella and Jack. When the two of them meet at her mother and his best friend's wedding, there is a lot of mutual attraction. However with Stella leaving to move across the country for college and Jack being firmly grounded in town, they both know that there's no future here. In a very adult like practical decision they decide to take one day at a time and enjoy the time that they do have together. 

Unfortunately life seldom has a way of sticking with the plan you made up. Stella falls hard for Jack and decides to stay back while her family moves till college actually begins in fall. Jack knows he loves her, but they have a deal and he does not want to hold her back from fulfilling her grand plan. That's when his psycho sister steps in to the picture again. With some really twisted ideas about why people are not taking her side, Aubrey decides to take matters in her own hands. 

The resulting drama makes both Jack and Stella realize what truly matter to them. It was a nice read, but in some cases the genuineness of the the relationship was a little frustrating. No one can be that perfect and that clueless! I found the first book better.

Book Review

This story resonated with me on two levels, first I read it on Valentine's Day :) and second I had my baby while my husband was away on duty as well. The story of Luke and Amanda brings out the emotional hardships that service wives everywhere can identify with. The short story is sweetly written, with beautiful character development and a couple of thrills along the way.

The second book sees a level headed business woman losing all reason and getting flustered over the stranger in town for a hot story. This is the first book of the author that I have read and I was pleasantly surprised with the unconventional love story. Its a second chance romance for Gabriella. The lady has loved and lost one husband and has isolated herself from everyone else. She dedicates her years to raising her twin daughters with the support of her sister Gina. When said daughters are ready to fly off into their professional futures, they dare their mother to get over her hermit's lifestyle. What follows is a sometimes sexy, sometimes sweet and incredibly believable romance. There are more than a few twists thrown into the plot and yes it makes for interesting reading. Looking forward to picking up more from this author. Happy to have discovered her.

After a very long time I read a book that made me laugh out loud at the antics of the main protagonist! Seriously the things this girl Kelsie will do to get out of a bad date are hilarious! Her mother and best friend Nanci with an i, are trying to set her up with men so that she gets over her two year old divorce. However she needs to keep dating imperfect men so that she doesn't develop feelings for any one. Then the perfect Cole steps into her life and makes it a habit of rescuing her. Very cute love story with a highly reluctant heroine!
