She’s searching for a purpose. He’s doubting his was ever real.

As a successful political strategist, Jake Sumner is always prepared for disaster, ready to spin on a dime to meet any challenge. Until a stranger knocks on his door and announces he’s the father of a five-year old girl he never knew existed. Reeling from the news, and trying to connect with his daughter, he returns to his hometown of Canyon Creek, Colorado, hoping his rowdy family can help him make sense of the chaos that surrounds him.

What he never counted on was falling in love…with his daughter, with his small town, or with Lina Bianchi.

Lina Bianchi has lived a life full of regrets and spent the last six years in Canyon Creek trying to make amends—to her family and to herself. She helped to raise her sisters and is proud of where they are in the world, but she’s a little lost and adrift herself. Unable to find her true passion, she works odd jobs around town, falling in love with the people and the land she now calls home. But when a developer threatens to destroy the town she holds dear, she decides to take a stand regardless of her family’s wishes.

Determined to win the battle, Lina turns to Jake, the one man in town who has the political background to help develop a strategy…and the one man whose hazel eyes make her body burn with desire. He’s in desperate need of some help himself, since his newly-discovered five-year-old is busy kicking his butt.

They each have something the other needs. Political know-how for parenting tutorials. But when she finds out he’s working for the opposition, all bets are off. This is a battle she’s hell-bent on winning. But will the thrill of victory be worth the pain of losing her heart?

Can these two discover the ultimate lesson, that a life lived for love offers its own rewards?

Book Review

This is a series that gets better with each book. In this particular story our political adviser Jake gets the shock of his life when he finds a grandmother at his door with his daughter! A daughter he didn't know existed. One who pretty much loves all things Disney and gives him a mini education on their princesses. He's handled all kinds of tough situations for his politician boss, but handling a five year old girl with smarts and an attitude may just be beyond him.

When Jake brings Becca home to Canyon Creek to meet his family, the last thing he's looking for is a romantic entanglement with Lina. This is one hot Italian babe who knows just how to handle little girls. She's been looking after her brood of baby sisters long enough to know what's what! Becca is easy to love, and so is her father, but Lina doesn't want anything permanent. She doesn't do relationships and Jake is as complicated as it can get!

How could a man so perfectly wrong be so completely right?

Maddie Henderson is the trivia queen of Verity Beach, and she’s got a shelf full of trophies to prove it. Word’s gotten around that she’s downright unbeatable when it comes to being brimming with useless knowledge and pop culture fun facts.

Unbeatable, that is, until Donovan Reeves—the one that got away—shows back up in town, years after crushing her heart like a bug on the sidewalk. And Donovan is determined to crush Maddie again, this time in the statewide trivia championships, while proving to her she had him all wrong and he’s truly the right man for her.

Book Review

Like Donovan and Maddie I am also a huge trivia fan and that made the book so much more interesting to me personally. These high school sweethearts had to go through a lot of separated growing up to realize that what they had back then was the real deal. I enjoyed the very real wallowing that Maddie does in the book, could so totally relate to it. Also Donovan's character at times came away too good to be true. I mean really doctors without borders, trivia king, perfect gentleman, do they really have such guys out there? hhhmmmm so that;s why we need book boyfriends!

Book Description

Grieving Navy SEAL widower, John Decker, commemorating the two-year anniversary of the day he lived and his wife died, is dragged back into life by a riptide and a blonde he can't get out of his thoughts. Plagued with survivor's guilt, he's reluctant to enter a new relationship, until he meets a feisty bartender with attitude and curves to go with it.

Roxi Lanier was the typical young teen in the city, happy, full of life and bulletproof, until she became the victim of a violent crime. Her mother moved her to Wellfleet on Cape Cod, away from the scene of her misfortune to start over. Fourteen years later, she's still afraid to date and be intimate with a man, the scars of her past overriding the happiness she craves. Though she's an independent owner of a thriving beach bar, she has yet to find success in love. Tides change when she witnesses a suicidal widower diving headfirst into a riptide.

Decker and Roxi struggle to stay afloat through the wreckage of their pasts and the storms of the present to sail into a future together.

Book Review

There's not much of the Brotherhood Protectors in this book except for a brief visit Hank and Sadie pay to the Cape. Other than that you've got your wounded SEAL, the contradictory girl who seems strong but is actually so so vulnerable, and the twister of a storm that brings them together. It was very predictable, but well composed.

Book Description

When Zara and Lessie first laid eyes on each other, neither dragon nor rider had any idea of the trials they would have to face together. Now, after several kidnapping and murder attempts, the pair have been transported to a secret location, where they must finish their training under the enigmatic and frustrating Lord Tavarian.

But with war brewing on the horizon, and Salcombe on the hunt for Zara, no place is truly safe. Soon, the two find themselves being attacked on all fronts, forced to lay down their lives for a cause they don't believe in and turn their backs on what they know to be right.

Fortunately for Zara, she and Lessie never been one to follow the rules. For that rebel streak may prove to be the crucial difference between triumphant victory, or certain death...

Book Review

So first of all I need to mention that I forgot about the new pen name that Jasmine Walt had taken on for this series. So even though I kept looking for the next book I didn't figure out it was showing up on the other author page! #FanFail

Other than that minor snafu I was again delighted with how the story progressed. Little Lessie is now big enough for Zara to ride comfortably. That results in a whole bunch of adventures that you are not going to want to miss! She finds out the secret about Lord Tavarian's dragon, gets captured by her old guardian who is still intent on finding the missing pieces of the dragon god's heart, ends up behind enemy lines, gets rescued by school friends, goes to the battle front and a whole lot more stuff that you are not going to want spoilers about. Just read the book.

Book Description

Skipping class can be deadly…

Fifteen-year-old Darcy Walker’s name means "dark walker." Whether her parents’ choice was a stroke of genius or smack of stupid, they definitely nailed the irony. She lacks direction. Distracts easily. And despite a high IQ, her grades stink.

Valley High’s reigning misfit, she’s also infatuated with a bad boy. A guy that her hottie best friend, Dylan, wishes would get acquainted with his fist.

With her life spiraling out of control, she cuts class and stumbles upon a corpse in a dumpster. From there, things go high-octane because in a world full of nouns, Darcy’s a verb. Hardwired for action, she gets caught up in the middle of the mystery and can’t let go.

When the school’s biggest nerd is arrested for the crime, Darcy goes Mach 1 trying to clear his name. Constructing aliases. Breaking the law. Dodging gangbangers who want her dead. Everything that makes perfect sense to her, but reeks of Grade A Stupid to everyone else.

Trouble is...will she live to see sixteen?

Book Review

The narration is a set of jumbled thoughts of the main character. It's really difficult to figure out any of her motivation in doing the whole follow that clue thing. Absolutely unbelievable ways to come in to information. The whole 15 year old passes for a lawyer routine was idiotic. I honestly kept hoping for some redeeming factor in the girl but was disappointed. She hasn't a clue that her best friend loves her. She's supposed to have a high IQ so what's she using it for? Not worth the time
