The epic conclusion to The Morphid Chronicles...

Everything has been taken from Sam by Regent Danata, the Morphid who destroyed the ethereal connection that bound Sam to Greg, her protector and lover. But Sam’s powers are maturing, and she is capable of more than she ever thought possible.

However, there is more to Danata’s threat than meets the eye. Dark forces operate behind the evil woman, and they are far worse than anyone suspects.

A malevolent secret lives in Rothblade castle, where Sam is kept in a dungeon cell, and it's about to be unleashed upon the earth. Now, Sam must embrace her Weaver powers or see the future of humanity and those she loves destroyed.

Book Review

This is the final book in the Morphid series and we have been waiting a long time for it to come! All I can say is that Ingrid did not disappoint. Sam is going to go through some of the worst times as she is captured and tortured by Danata. The best part is that while Sam may be now happily the regent with her Keeper, thankfully Ash has a whole new world to conquer. I wonder how long that book is going to take, but I am sure I will be reading it when it comes out. A lot of new characters to look forward to there!

Book Review

The mind blowing finale. Yes it was Trelaren’s powers that have been causing trouble for the kingdom of Aemonsha. However the two finest psychics are waiting to fight him at the city of Traven. The gathering of the armies, the fighting, the temples of the Mother and the Scholar. It was all coming down to this...the final fight for supremacy. Maevan needed to prove her mettle and did she do it in kick butt style! This is one princess who didn't need to be rescued!

Book Description

It has been just over three years since Xenya became queen of Aemonsha. Things are progressing within the kingdom, but there is still unrest. Xenya is hopeful that a new school curriculum will help the next generations understand and follow the leadership of the First House.

Maevan and Raikar are happily married and closer than ever. The only thing more they could wish for is some privacy! Meirei couldn't be happier ruling the Second House with Coran by her side and her best friend Kolton as head of security. Although, after three years, the two men are still unsure of each other. Korla and Jorgan are on the brink of wedded bliss and join Renna and Kai, who reunite happily after three long years when plans to visit Coran and Rei turn into an unexpected side trip.

While everything appears happy and near to perfect, danger is lurking under the surface. The unrest seems to be growing through seemingly unnatural means. Will the family be able to unearth who is behind the unruly citizens and remain strong when tragedy strikes?

Book Review

Raikar and Maevan have finally married after three years of courtship. Korla and Jorgan are about to wed as well. Coran has found his match in Rei. And Even Renna and Kai are going to be reunited soon. Everything was going well...too well if you know what I mean.

Yes I was expecting it. No it didn't make it easier. Queen Xenya's murder is just about the most tragic incident ever. Now Maevan needs to take charge but the poor thing is so broken. Raikar needs to help his wife and be her strength.

Granada and Sol's side story takes up a lot of the book. Yes Cardea is important in the series, but I was wondering why so much importance was given to this back story that could have been handled much faster.

Book Description

With the Rogue Queen vanquished, the rightful queen sits on the throne! Queen Xenya now must prove to the people that she is the queen they deserve. With all her daughters safe, Xenya can lead the people back to the path Kaelen laid out for the people of Aemonsha.

Maevan is thrilled that her mother is once again queen and in Traven, but doesn't know what to do with her feelings for Jorgan and her mysterious rescuer turned bodyguard Raikar. Her formerly betrothed, Coran, has banished himself to the icy lands of Cardea to sulk. Although she is safe and well protected, Mae can't shake the sense that someone wants her dead.

The Second House has always declared they are neutral in the fight between the First and Third Houses, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Antara, the current ruler of the Second House, cares only for power and retaining her lands no matter the cost. Her daughter Meirei is not as malleable an heir as Antara would like. Jorgan and Meirei have always banded together against their mother's iron-fisted ways, as much as possible. Meirei is determined to rule the Second House her own way and is desperately tired of her mother's abuse.

Everyone has a destiny, let's hope they all survive to see it.

Book Review

Now that Queen Xenya is back on the throne, you would feel that Maevan, Korla, and Renna would be safe. However that's not the case. In fact someone is staking Maevan and wants her dead. It's not Coran, who has decided to isolate himself away from the capital in the icy land of Cardea. It's someone deadly, and while Raikar is still Mae's bodyguard, he's not too sure how to handle this new challenge. There is also the confusion over whom Mae will eventually choose, Jorgan or Raikar.

Jorgan's mother Antara, ruler of the Second house wishes to cement their relations with a marriage. However while Jorgan is fond of Maevan, he's not exactly passionate about them as a couple. A fact that seems to surprise him when he finally manages to connect with Korla.

Book Description

Maevan, Korla, and Renna, three devoted sisters, have been trained all their lives how to defend themselves, hunt, and strengthen their minds by their mother, Queen Xenya. What they didn't prepare for was separation.

Many years ago, Queen Xenya of the First House was forced to flee her throne to the icy land of Cardea. Now the rogue queen, Shaezen, has demanded Xenya's eldest daughter, Maevan, return to the ruling city of Traven. Alone.

Mae loves her home and family but understands the necessity of her placement within the palace of their enemies. Her mother has been preparing Mae and her sisters for the return of the First House to power their entire lives. Something no one could prepare Mae for is the sheer evil of Queen Shaezen and her many devious plans. Mae must find a way to survive her time in the palace while dealing with an evil queen, romance, betrayals, religious fanatics, and court life.

Book Review

This was a phenomenal start to a great series. The story of a widow Queen in exile, who is training her three daughters to take back the power that was stolen from them. Queen Xenya is faced with a difficult decision when the Rogue Queen Shaezen asks for an exchange of children. In order to show that the First and Third Houses are in harmony, Xenya must send her daughter Maevan away from the icy land of Cardea to the ruling city of Traven.

Mae must endure all the ill treatment of the false Queen while trying to figure out how to bring her house back to power. The only saving grace is that While Queen Shaezen wants Mae to marry her elder son, Coran, he is already in love with someone else and has no desire to be tied down to her. Mae hopes that Jorgan of the Second House, whom she has had a crush on for ages, will help her. Only the one who does come to her rescue is not Jorgan, but Raikar.

Book Description

eparated from her dragon and stranded in enemy territory, Zara Kenrook has been branded as a traitor and a deserter by her own people. In order to survive, she temporarily teams up with Salcombe, posing as his high society wife and pretending to help him while desperately searching for a way to foil the impending war and reunite with Lessie.

With no allies to aid her, and danger lurking around every corner, Zara's chances of success grow slimmer by the day. But insurmountable odds have never stopped Zara before, and she's not about to give in. Not when the price of failure is not just the fall of Elantia, but of dragonkind itself...

Book Review

Zara's hit rock bottom on this path. She's separated from Lessie because the dragon will be hunted down and killed. She's got to make her own way back to the base, where people are already assuming her to be AWOL or a traitor.

To make matters worse she's captured by Salcombe who is exploiting her treasure sense to hunt down the pieces of the Dragon God's heart. And while she is happy to bump into Tavarian at the Traggaren court, he's also in not much better position than a glorified prisoner.

She's got to do something to get out of there, and she does!

Book Description

Now, after several kidnapping and murder attempts, the pair have been transported to a secret location, where they must finish their training under the enigmatic and frustrating Lord Tavarian.

But with war brewing on the horizon, and Salcombe on the hunt for Zara, no place is truly safe. Soon, the two find themselves being attacked on all fronts, forced to lay down their lives for a cause they don't believe in and turn their backs on what they know to be right.

Fortunately for Zara, she and Lessie never been one to follow the rules. For that rebel streak may prove to be the crucial difference between triumphant victory, or certain death...

Book Review

So first of all I need to mention that I forgot about the new pen name that Jasmine Walt had taken on for this series. So even though I kept looking for the next book I didn't figure out it was showing up on the other author page! #FanFail

Other than that minor snafu I was again delighted with how the story progressed. Little Lessie is now big enough for Zara to ride comfortably. That results in a whole bunch of adventures that you are not going to want to miss! She finds out the secret about Lord Tavarian's dragon, gets captured by her old guardian who is still intent on finding the missing pieces of the dragon god's heart, ends up behind enemy lines, gets rescued by school friends, goes to the battle front and a whole lot more stuff that you are not going to want spoilers about. Just read the book.

Book Description

Saving the world is such a bother when it makes you late for your nap.

Blessed (or cursed, depending on who you ask) with human intelligence, Sir Edgar Allan Kipling, magical talking cat extraordinaire, spends most of his time keeping his human out of trouble. Of course, having a wizard for a human means that trouble is never far away.

When Sir Kipling’s human goes away for the weekend and leaves him to guard her magical library, things start out quiet. But when he discovers a witch smelling suspiciously of demon magic snooping in his human’s office, quiet goes out the window and chaos looms on the horizon. Will Sir Kipling be able to outwit the intruders before their mischief causes permanent damage?

If you are a cat person, you will adore this book. If you are a dog person, you will also adore this book, and upon completion will be inexplicably compelled to go out and adopt a cat. You have been warned.

Book Review

If you have been reading the Love, Lies and Hocus Pocus series, you don't need any introduction to Sir Kip, feline familiar extraordinaire! In this story we hear from the feline's mouth just how he needs to care for his unpredictable human, Lily. His reasons for approving of Sebastian as Lily's future mate, as well as just how seriously he takes his duty of keeping Lily's library safe during her trips out of town. We are also introduced to a new Wizard who is a friend of Madam B. I'm dying to know exactly who he is, and who the witch trying to break into the basement was...Eagerly awaiting the next book.

Book Description

Today, Bia is a Goddess, but her claim to immortality hangs in the balance.

All she knows is her mountain-top citadel with its god-honed buildings and endless comforts. However, this glorious place tolerates only greatness, and she must prove herself in order to stay.

Bia is agile with the sword, but she has no ability to make her a real contender in the yearly competition. What chance does a Skillbarren have against opponents who can control the elements, seize the mind, or wield any number of unimaginable powers?

None.

Bia could surrender and become a mortal. But that would mean dishonor and exile. Three clashes—only one warrior can survive. It’s impossible for Bia to triumph with nothing more than her wits and her sword. But she must win—or die.

Book Review

This is another great start to a new series by Ingrid. Bia is born a Goddess, but she's got to talent. This means that she needs to fight to survive the trials to remain in her version of heaven and home. With a mother who is barely able to conceal her disgust for the daughter and sisters who have shown her no affection, Bia survives with her close knit group of friends. However even in her close alliance there may be troubles. How is she going to survive the trials? Is she going to chose to fight, or simply descend with the rest of the untalented gentry. Superb.

Book Description

Zara Kenrook has never wanted to be ordinary. Abandoned at an orphanage, destined for a life in the slums, she’s clawed her way to the top and made herself a name as one of the best treasure hunters in Elantia.

But Zara hasn’t gotten to where she is without making enemies, and when one of them calls in a debt, her entire livelihood is thrown into peril. Suddenly, Zara is faced with two impossible choices—break into a dragon rider’s home and steal a priceless artifact, or lose the career she’s worked so hard to build.

Luckily, Zara has some experience pulling off heists, and she’s never been one to back down from a challenge. But when the object she tries to steal turns out to be a dragon egg, her whole world changes. For this particular dragon is about to hatch, and once it lays its fiery eyes on Zara, her life will never be the same…

Book Review

So in a lot of ways Zara Kenrook reminds me of Sunaya, and that's a good thing! This little orphan has gone from being a freelance treasure hunter to a dragon rider. The transformation takes place through a series of adventures. It was a story filled with mafia type elements, social class segregation, different magical talents, a drool worthy potential boyfriend, elements of a steampunk society and of course the most adorable dragonling, Lessie.
Can't wait to see the trouble this dragon baby gets into next with Zara. With this book Jasmine has gone back to her original strength of the fantasy genre with a strong female lead character. Thankfully no RH elements seen so far!  I am absolutely delighted with the book and look forward to the next one.

Book Description

What if ISIS controlled America?

Eisa McCarthy lives in Caliphate City under the control of the radical Islamic group, the Ghuraba. Seven years ago General Mohammad bin-Rasulullah defeated the United States in a ruthless betrayal and set up their worldwide Caliphate in the ruins of Washington, D.C. The Ghuraba's supreme holy leader, the Abu al-Ghuraba, claims Eisa's father gave him control of the U.S. nuclear arsenal, a claim bolstered by the smoldering ashes of many cities and her Syrian-born mother's testimony. But after her mother is accused of apostasy, she learns her father may not be the 'martyr' the Ghuraba claim.

Do the Ghuraba really possess the launch codes for the ICBM missiles? Or did her father 'lock them out' as Colonel Everhart, the rebel commander, wants her to tell the world? If she fights, the Ghuraba will kill her little sister, but if she doesn't, eventually the Ghuraba will hack in and nuke them all. All Eisa has are a string of Muslim prayer beads and a pre-Islamic myth her father told her the night he disappeared.

The fate of the world, and her little sister's life, hang in the balance as Eisa sorts through ancient myth, her Muslim faith, and what really happened the night the Ghuraba seized control.

Book Review

This is not light reading. This book brings out questions that you never want to answer. Disturbingly accurate in the descriptions of a male dominated ISIS society, the book really sent shivers down my spine. The story of Eisa McCarthy is one of survival. As a woman, and as a Muslim. The protection she wants to offer her younger sister but can not. The heartbreak of being torn from the familiar and thrust into the unknown. The simple pleasures of being a teenager, denied.

When she swears that she will make a widow out of her sister, you can feel her anguish and her determination not to be helpless anymore. I think that scene was one of the most memorable in the book. Reading the book made me glad that this was just a novel, that it was not my reality. Then it struck me, it may not be my reality, but hundreds of women live through such time each day in the world today. That really made me feel so helpless and frustrated.

The writing is phenomenal. The story does not allow you to keep the book down. The characters are so well developed you can imagine meeting them on the street. All I can say is that it took me a while to recover from the book world Anna Erishkigal created.

Book Description

Can one love destroy the world?
Marielle and Faris have risked it all for love: their safety, their lives, even humanity itself. Their mistakes are grave and the entire world is paying dearly. Akeelah has created a vicious, half-djinn army and is bent on killing every single human on the planet. Her powers are second only to her hatred. No one is safe, not when the creature’s goal is to rule the physical realm.

Only Marielle and Faris know how Akeelah built her army, and only they know how to destroy it. Marielle would rather forget the role she plays in this terrible game. She would rather run away with Faris, never to return—humanity be damned—but who is she kidding? There is no way she can let the evil Djinn win. Marielle’s fate was sealed the day she unwittingly gave Akeelah the answers to her thousand-year-old questions. Now Marielle’s guilt is too heavy to simply walk away. The fate of every citizen on Earth, especially her father, depends on her and the man she loves.

Book Review

It's time for Faris and Marielle to face the terror that is Akeelah. No matter how he tries Faris can't keep Marielle out of trouble till the evil is wandering their world. The action is superlative, the characters all grow and come into their own. The twists and turns make you wish for a seat belt. Plenty of little thrills and surprises sprinkled in the story. Witches, demons, djinns, oh my! Overall I loved the story...best part ever...he finally gets to say the three words. Not quite the way one imagined them the first time, but totally awesome all the same.

Book Description

The evil Djinn has been banished, but Marielle’s supposedly happy days are still filled with fear. She feigns a settled appearance but is continually on edge because of Akeelah’s threats of a painful revenge.

When Akeelah does reappear, Marielle’s notions of the creature’s cruelty are surpassed. The Djinn is worse than Marielle ever imagined. Akeelah is crazed, ready to cause a deadly chaos, and willing to so whatever it takes to unveil the secrets which will give her power over human souls.

During her quest, Akeelah captures Faris, Marielle’s one and only love. They are torn asunder, leaving Marielle on her knees, brokenhearted. Without him, she is not whole. Anger brews slowly within her. The situation is personal now, and she’s not about to sit idle and let her grief win. She will do whatever it takes to get her one love back—even if it means putting the entire human race at risk.

Book Review

Just as things begin to settle down for Faris and Marielle things go crazy again. A djinn may not be able to physically harm a human, but it's easy to find other twisted humans who would do anything for power and money. Faris chooses to leave out of his own choice with Akeelah believing he is sparing Marielle, but Akeelah is not exactly known for keeping her word. On the other hand Marielle would do all she can to get Faris back safely...even contact a recluse Djinn expert. It may not have been the best idea she ever had....

Book Description

Faris is a Djinn with a secret and Marielle the first master to give him hope. Will she be the one to break his curse? There is no telling. All he really knows is she's ONE WISH AWAY from breaking his heart.

When Marielle was little, she used to believe Grandpa about his wish-granting Djinn. But now that she’s older, her beliefs have changed, and things like lousy ex-boyfriends and alcoholic fathers have become her reality.

Life isn’t done shattering her truths, though, and when Grandpa dies and the Djinn he warned her never to trust shows up at her doorstep, the world becomes a dangerous, magical place she never knew existed. Reeling for her once-normal life, Marielle soon realizes there’s no going back—not when she’s become part of a mortal conflict between two spell-bound Djinn. Faris—her handsome slave. And Zet—his vengeance-hungry brother. They both want something from her. One, her love. The other one, her life.

Now she’s afraid she will die in love.

One Wish Away is a young adult paranormal romance that will appeal to lovers of Hush Hush, Twilight, and the Fallen series.

Book Review

Djinn stories are always interesting. Specially when it comes to a master of the opposite gender. Of course Faris is like a super hero on protective detail for Marielle. It's every girl's fantasy to have the whole attention of a powerful creature all to herself. And if he's a dreamboat djinn who can literally make wishes come true...oh my! I love the plot twists and look forward to seeing the resolution in the upcoming series. Akeelah makes a good foe! She's the kind of bad gal we can sympathize with while feeling horrified about. The writer has done a great job of creating very believable fantasy characters.

Book Review

An interesting retelling of the traditional fairy tale. There were a few changes to the original story. some worked others didn't. On the whole entertaining enough. I liked the idea of passing a fairly tale by bringing it to a proper conclusion. Robin Hood was not required at all! And the whole reunion thing was a bit too pat. Also the fairy god mother felt wasted...

Everything changed on the night of the Olympian Comet.

I’ve always known that I’m a witch. But I didn’t expect to discover that I have a mysterious power unheard of amongst my kind. My best friend Garrett — who I’ve secretly been wanting to become more than a friend — has one of these powers too.

We know something big is going on. But we didn’t realize that there are ancient creatures searching for us, and that they’ll kill us for what we are…

The Wrath of the Fury is a short story that takes place in the Elementals universe. It can be read before, during, or after the Elementals series.

Book Review

If you enjoyed the Elementals series and wouldn't mind reading more about demi-gods from that universe, you will enjoy this story. Even if you have not read the series, this is a good standalone short story that may just intrigue you into reading what happened next. I enjoyed revisiting the comet appearance with a different set of witches.

Book Description

Against all odds, Greg and Samantha seemed to have cheated Fate when they escaped Regent Danata. Miraculously, the two Morphids remain bound together, attempting to lead a normal, “human” life, even as fear of the evil woman’s revenge clouds their days.

As Sam and Greg struggle to grow their relationship, she is haunted by memories of Ashby, her Morphid soul mate, and burning questions of the identity of her real parents. As if that wasn’t enough, her untried Morphid instincts fill her with doubt and indecision, taking her once simple life in directions she could never have imagined.

When Greg’s Keeper sense foretells danger, however, they abandon all dreams of normalcy and find no other choice but to flee. Armed with nothing but their Morphid skills, Sam sets their course toward New York City, a place that calls to her deeper instincts. As her Keeper, Greg must follow but knows danger awaits.

Thus begins a quest that will test their bond and may spell the end of all they hold dear. It’s only a matter of time before Regent Danata and chaos storm into their lives again.

Book Review

Sam and Greg continue on their journey after Ashby's supposed death. However there are surprises headed their way. The plans that Danata and Veridan make are likely to keep Sam in danger and Greg needs to stay ready to protect her. Unfortunately his Keeper senses don't work that well when he's infatuated with her every move.

At the onset of danger Sam and Greg run again. This time Sam's calls get her to New York City. Just how is she going to help all these people who have suffered at the hands of the evil Ripper? As she tries to do the best she can, she has no idea that her parents are trying to find her. Not the human parents, but her Morphid ones.

There more than one surprise in the tale and a whole lot of interesting action. Love the way this series is shaping up. Can't wait to read the next book to see how Sam fared with Danata.

Book Description

“I will be transformed into something beautiful, but at what cost?”

Samantha’s life is ordinary, at least until a mysterious, magic-wielding man blows up her car trying to kill her. She escapes by a hair’s breadth, all thanks to an equally mysterious and magical stranger.

Her savior, Greg, is otherworldly in beauty and skill. His presence sends a thrill of knowledge through her, even though they’ve never met. He calls himself her Keeper, a fate-bound servant compelled to protect her at the cost of his life. By the rules of his kind, he’s meant to be just that, except he’s flawed, and he begins to fall for her. This is wrong. Forbidden. Yet, inevitable. But he’s not the only one defying the rules. Samantha is also attracted to him, though she’s unaware anything is wrong with her intense attraction until she morphs and her fate is written in stone.

Nope, she’s not ordinary. In fact, she isn’t even human or allowed to fall in love with who she wants. Guess she’ll have to rethink her plans of being a chef. Culinary school just isn’t the place for people destined to save a dying race.

Book Review

Hidden among humans lives this alien race which came from another realm - the Morphids. They look human but evolve very differently into adults. As they morph they receive from Fate a caste which is symbolized by a mark on their neck. This determines what they will do in life.

Amazing new world to delve into with magical spells and light auras and so much happening. The main character Sam is unaware that she is a Morphid and when her Keeper Greg shows up and tells her, she's not quite sure she's ready to give up believing that she's human!

Unfortunately when she's literally fighting to stay alive when attacked by a Sorcerer, she has no choice but to accept his incredible tale. She begins to fall for this guy who will go to any length to save her life, but apparently she's not allowed to even fall in love with him...

Maris Sanders thinks she’s a normal high school girl. Until she starts developing underwater powers that aren’t normal at all. When a good-looking stranger, with the odd name of Cuda, comes into her life and tells her stories, she discovers a history that stuns her.
A lost princess. A lost kingdom. And two lost sisters she never knew she had.
Not knowing who to believe, Maris is determined to find the truth. About herself, her powers, and her sisters. But a scientist hired by Cuda’s father is determined to use her as a science experiment. Maris must decide whether to risk her life and her present human reality to join a battle under the sea. And if she doesn’t, will she ever find where she truly belongs?

Book Review

Maris has had the most normal life among the three princesses so far. She doesn't even know that she is adopted. She has never been allowed close to the ocean by her parents and it comes as a surprise to her that she could swim without ever having taken a single lesson. She is fast enough to win medals for her school and obviously feels that working as a life guard is a perfect summer job. Although she though she would end up at pool duty like most newbies, not at the beach.

Cuda has more than a passing interest in Maris. He thinks that she may be the lost princess, but he needs to find out if she is aware of her own special talents. Before he can test her, she ends up rescuing Dirk Devilla. The son of a scientist who is in cahoots with the separatist leaders. He's looking for the princess but really doesn't believe in the legend like his father does. Unfortunately its all true and Dirk manages to trap Maris and hand her over to his father.

Maris is just about coming to terms with the fantastic legend which both Cuda and Dirk are convinced is about her and two other lost princesses when she discovers her special ability...to heal in the ocean. There's a whole lot of story left even once the book ends. Can't wait to find out how the three united princesses and their personal body guards deal with the situation underwater and the coming war.
