This is a series that gets better with each book. In this particular story our political adviser Jake gets the shock of his life when he finds a grandmother at his door with his daughter! A daughter he didn't know existed. One who pretty much loves all things Disney and gives him a mini education on their princesses. He's handled all kinds of tough situations for his politician boss, but handling a five year old girl with smarts and an attitude may just be beyond him.

When Jake brings Becca home to Canyon Creek to meet his family, the last thing he's looking for is a romantic entanglement with Lina. This is one hot Italian babe who knows just how to handle little girls. She's been looking after her brood of baby sisters long enough to know what's what! She's hard working and loves being the only vet in three counties, but it's crushing her under the workload.
Aaron doesn't want to be back in Canyon Creek but with a tremor in his hand that affects his career as a surgeon, it's unlikely he will be able to return to his glamorous past career. In some ways, he may not want to.

Book Review

We met the globe trotting photographer earlier in the series. This is the story of Devlin and Max Sumner. Max is an ex NFL player. He's been a player in more ways than one, and that makes people discount his almost genius IQ level. In Devlin he finds his ideal match. The irony of it all is that the player is ready to settle down, and the girl he wants doesn't want anything close to a relationship and commitment.
I loved the wedding scene and yes I cried when they remembered John in the speech. The book is one that really tugged at my heart strings.

Maggie has been working at the Sumner lodge for years. She is grateful to John and Valerie for all the encouragement and support that they have given her. She was resigned to being the town drunk's daughter, but working as the manager of the lodge has given her confidence a boost. She's now working at putting together enough funds to run her own bed and breakfast one day. What she doesn't expect is John's sudden death.

Ben has become a successful businessman by writing exceptional code and creating software. He feels that life is taking him away from the coding he enjoys to the endless tasks of running a company, but he doesn't know what else to do. That's when he gets the news of his father dying. He rushes back home only to find out that his parents have expanded the lodge way too soon and have a huge loan.

Ben doesn't think his mother can manage on his own and is surprised to find Maggie at her side, helping her. It doesn't help him that he's been crushing on Maggie since high school. The two of them butt heads over changes and cuts that he want to make. Beautiful story. Loved the characters. So much depth and emotion. Very well dealt with. Looking forward to the rest of the brothers joining the lodge in the subsequent stories.

Book Review

I've not read the stories before this book in the series, but it reads fine as a standalone as well. Joslyn is full of guilt and grief for having to place her aunt in a care home. Adam is in charge of said home and meets with the patient's family before Aunt Marion is shifted.
Adam admires Joslyn for how she has lovingly handled her aunt's Alzheimer. He personally knows how difficult it is for the caregiver to let go. There is an attraction there that he wants to pursue, but will Joslyn be prepared for that big a step? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
