Book Review

Cora Rules’ story is the third in the Hollywood Rules book series by Mel Curtis. After her sister Amber and brother Blue manage to figure out how to be effective life coaches at the Dooley Foundation, it is now Cora’s turn to meet her sales quota. However Cora wants nothing to do with it, she wants to go to Paris and become a designer. The new family dynamics is what decides to make her give life coaching a shot just to help her siblings out. Unfortunately, for a person with her past Hollywood is not exactly a forgiving place.
Coach Trent Parker has finally hit the big time with NBA and he has a lot riding on his first season. The last thing he needs is any sort of distraction, unfortunately with the team owner’s illness, his wife’s vindictiveness, and a life coach who he does not want anywhere near him stealing the hearts of all his players, Coach has his hands full. He does not want to fall in love with a woman seven years younger than him, or be in charge of a father, who is marrying a girl younger than himself, but we don’t always get what we want, do we? Sometimes we don’t know how lucky we are!

Book Review

Blue is the prototype of the successful Hollywood playboy. He never promises a woman more than a short fling and a good time. However he runs into trouble when a string of his ex girlfriends decide to avenge themselves. They band together and call themselves the Playboy Avengers pranking Blue and making his life a misery. While his work at the Rules foundation is not going great, he also needs to ensure that the Avengers do not unmask him. After all who wants a playboy for a relationship coach?

That's when Maddy , a wanna be producer who is moonlighting at the Beverly Hills Hotel as a waitress, comes up with a pitch that Amber, Blue's elder sister and CEO thinks would save Blue from the fiasco that the Avengers could land him in. A reality show where Blue works as a relationship coach for each of the Avengers and matches them up with the perfect mate! Only trouble is Blue is not at all willing to bare himself on reel.

The chemistry between Maddy and Blue is beautifully dealt with. How insightful they can be of each other and just how well they are matched! I'm picking up vibes that a certain secretary at the Rules foundation may be more than what she appears in the future...

    Book Review

What would you do if your father made a fortune off pretending to coach you as an obese, under confident teenager and seemingly fixed you up to appear as a well put together young woman? If you are Amber Rules, you hide out away from the spotlight and hope no one ever sees you again in the media. Then the father's will comes back to haunt her and she is now CEO of the company that offers life coaching based on her father's methods.

Her siblings and she must generate sales to aid the failing corporation on whose checks they are surviving. That brings Evan Oliver, a basketball player off his game, into Amber's life. Can she coach him on methods that she herself thinks are dubious and make him succeed? Did her father ever love them, or were his children just experiments he undertook to perfect his own coaching skills?

Unlike Amber I know a fair bit about basketball, so it was all the more fun for me to read about Chaos and the other plays they called. The gentle giant Ren was also an adorable character as Evan's teammate. I hope he gets his midnight star. Looking forward to read how Amber's brother Blue fares in his fight against the exes club. Will be sure to post that book review soon.
