Book Description

Saving the world is such a bother when it makes you late for your nap.

Blessed (or cursed, depending on who you ask) with human intelligence, Sir Edgar Allan Kipling, magical talking cat extraordinaire, spends most of his time keeping his human out of trouble. Of course, having a wizard for a human means that trouble is never far away.

When Sir Kipling’s human goes away for the weekend and leaves him to guard her magical library, things start out quiet. But when he discovers a witch smelling suspiciously of demon magic snooping in his human’s office, quiet goes out the window and chaos looms on the horizon. Will Sir Kipling be able to outwit the intruders before their mischief causes permanent damage?

If you are a cat person, you will adore this book. If you are a dog person, you will also adore this book, and upon completion will be inexplicably compelled to go out and adopt a cat. You have been warned.

Book Review

If you have been reading the Love, Lies and Hocus Pocus series, you don't need any introduction to Sir Kip, feline familiar extraordinaire! In this story we hear from the feline's mouth just how he needs to care for his unpredictable human, Lily. His reasons for approving of Sebastian as Lily's future mate, as well as just how seriously he takes his duty of keeping Lily's library safe during her trips out of town. We are also introduced to a new Wizard who is a friend of Madam B. I'm dying to know exactly who he is, and who the witch trying to break into the basement was...Eagerly awaiting the next book.

Book Description

"I never meant to become a witch. But when someone you love dies, logic and reason die with them."

Sebastian Blackwell is your typical high school popular kid: attractive, charming, and a little rebellious. At least he used to be. But when his parents are killed in a freak accident, he goes from cool kid to orphan outcast before the dirt even settles over their graves. Now a shell of his former self, Sebastian realizes what really matters in life and is determined to get it back, no matter the cost. To do it, he'll have to delve into his family's darkest secrets, secrets his parents tried to protect him from his whole life.

With a ghost as his only friend, a goth girl his only ally, and a demon prince his only chance, Sebastian sets out on a desperate path of redemption that seems more likely to damn him than to save him. For all power has a price, and Sebastian must decide what he is willing to pay to defy death itself.

Book Review

When I got word about this book detailing Sebastian's early years was out, I had to get it. It tells us how the mundane boy born in a wizard family gets into magic and becomes a witch. So much is explained about his relationship with his great great aunt, Mrs Barrington. It was wonderful to read about the sixteen year old boy who last becomes that charming adult we meet up with in the Lily Singer series. Can't wait for the next book in both series.

But when a queen of the fae gets involved and calls in an old debt, Sebastian's mistakes come back to haunt him and Lily is in danger of losing the one thing that matters most. Far from home and facing perilous odds, Lily fears she's not strong enough to keep her friends safe and win the day. Will the risks she takes be enough? Or will this adventure be the end of them all?

Book Review

Even more fascinating characters enter the story universe in this book. Sebastian is reunited with his grandmother. A British setup shows a different kind of wizard. Lily heads to Oxford and finds bibliophile heaven. And of course a lot more trouble. Can't wait to read more.

Book Description

What's worse than fighting with allies? Fighting without them.

Wizard and archivist Lily Singer wishes life would just leave her alone. But after opening the "Pandora's box" of her dark family past, larger plots are put into motion and people start getting hurt. From genetic experiments to awakening a wizard of ancient legend, her enemies have no intention of making life easy.

Now Lily must reconcile old grudges, make questionable allies, and bend the law to fix a problem that's not even her fault. Worse, she's having inconvenient feelings for her ne'er-do-well witch friend while trying to date an overeager FBI agent.

With old and new allies making life complicated, can Lily and her friends work together to save the day? Or will they let their differences divide them as evil runs rampant?

Book Review

Lily's power hungry father has been busy with dastardly acts. It's up to the Wizarding family to stop his plans of world domination. Their rag tag team doesn't seem like much to fight a powerful wizard like John La Fey but the future of the world depends on them succeeding.

Book Review

Lily never forgave her mother for stepping away from magic and keeping her heritage from her. Book Description

Saving the world is such a bother when it makes you late for tea.

Wizard Lily Singer is kept busy managing library archives, studying magic, and trying to keep her witch friend Sebastian from dragging her into trouble. Unfortunately, he loves adventure even more than she loves being left alone.

She doesn't want to investigate a malignant spell in a haunted house, but Sebastian is promising rare books as the reward. She also doesn't want to hurt her family, but is tired of being lied to about her past. And she definitely doesn't want to get stuck in a dangerously unstable time loop, but Sebastian is in trouble--again...

Strangling her friend, as satisfying as it would be, won't fix her problems. If she wants answers, and to not miss tea, she had best find the right spell for the job--before everything goes to hell, and takes them all with it.

Book Review

I wasn't quite sure what to expect with this book on magic. I'm really glad that I read it. The author has created a universe where wizards can use magic from the Source, while witches need to bargain for their powers. Of course Lily is a Wizard, a powerful one who is still under training. Sebastian is a witch, albeit from a well known Wizard family. It's a wonderful Young Adult read.
