Book Description

What if ISIS controlled America?

Eisa McCarthy lives in Caliphate City under the control of the radical Islamic group, the Ghuraba. Seven years ago General Mohammad bin-Rasulullah defeated the United States in a ruthless betrayal and set up their worldwide Caliphate in the ruins of Washington, D.C. The Ghuraba's supreme holy leader, the Abu al-Ghuraba, claims Eisa's father gave him control of the U.S. nuclear arsenal, a claim bolstered by the smoldering ashes of many cities and her Syrian-born mother's testimony. But after her mother is accused of apostasy, she learns her father may not be the 'martyr' the Ghuraba claim.

Do the Ghuraba really possess the launch codes for the ICBM missiles? Or did her father 'lock them out' as Colonel Everhart, the rebel commander, wants her to tell the world? If she fights, the Ghuraba will kill her little sister, but if she doesn't, eventually the Ghuraba will hack in and nuke them all. All Eisa has are a string of Muslim prayer beads and a pre-Islamic myth her father told her the night he disappeared.

The fate of the world, and her little sister's life, hang in the balance as Eisa sorts through ancient myth, her Muslim faith, and what really happened the night the Ghuraba seized control.

Book Review

This is not light reading. This book brings out questions that you never want to answer. Disturbingly accurate in the descriptions of a male dominated ISIS society, the book really sent shivers down my spine. The story of Eisa McCarthy is one of survival. As a woman, and as a Muslim. The protection she wants to offer her younger sister but can not. The heartbreak of being torn from the familiar and thrust into the unknown. The simple pleasures of being a teenager, denied.

When she swears that she will make a widow out of her sister, you can feel her anguish and her determination not to be helpless anymore. I think that scene was one of the most memorable in the book. Reading the book made me glad that this was just a novel, that it was not my reality. Then it struck me, it may not be my reality, but hundreds of women live through such time each day in the world today. That really made me feel so helpless and frustrated.

The writing is phenomenal. The story does not allow you to keep the book down. The characters are so well developed you can imagine meeting them on the street. All I can say is that it took me a while to recover from the book world Anna Erishkigal created.

Book Description

At the dawn of time, two ancient adversaries battled for control of Earth. One man rose to stand at humanity's side. A soldier whose name we still remember today...

Angelic Special Forces Colonel Mikhail Mannuki'ili has suffered from dissociative amnesia ever since his species was slaughtered as a child. The Cherubim said he must never try to remember what happened during the Seraphim Genocide. Whenever he tries, he blacks out and people end up dead.

But old ghosts refuse to remain buried. With the village destroyed and whispers the white-winged Angelic is his own Prime Minister, each night, his dead chéad phósadh visits his nightmares to warn him about the lizard at the door.

As Abaddon closes in on Earth, Lucifer deals with the fallout from his recent possession, Gita tries to clear her name, and Ba'al Zebub rallies a new threat against Assur, Mikhail must find a way to rescue his pregnant wife without succumbing to the terrifying power he can wield, but not control, in this fourth installment of the Sword of the Gods saga.

This book is NOT religious fiction!  Trigger warning: this book deals with PTSD post-traumatic stress disorder and incidents of war.

Book Review

I've been reading this series and loving each subsequent book more than the previous one. There is just so much drama, action, and thrills in each installment that you really keep wishing that it doesn't end.

I actually read this book a couple of chapters at a time and forced myself to take breaks, because I couldn't bear the thought of finishing it too quickly. Alas, all good things come to an end and so did this fantastic read. I really really wanted Gita to get him in the end of the book. Guess that would mean the end of the series, and no book 5 so I can wait for him to claim her in the next book.

Between his amnesia and PTSD you can almost forgive him for not recognizing his chead phosadh. Just a little heartbreaking the way she keeps sacrificing herself for his happiness. He better make it up to her properly in the next book, okay Anna? And I absolutely love the many many colourful characters that are woven into the story, humans of all tribes, species from different galaxies, it's just amazing the way everything comes together in an absolutely epic novel!

The Watchmaker: A Sweet Contemporary Time Travel Romance

Book Description

Marae O’Conaire has much bigger problems than the fact her watch stopped at 3:57 p.m. When she brings her watch to a kindly repairman, she learns she has won a peculiar prize, a chance to re-live a single hour of her life. But Fate has strict rules about how one can go poking in the past, including the warning that she can’t do anything that would create a time-paradox. Can Marae make peace with the mistake she regrets most in this world?

The Watchmaker is a sweet, contemporary time-travel romance about second chances set in the historic mill city of Lowell, Massachusetts, complete with a walkable map of the downtown area canals. It explores themes of regret, second chances, interracial relationships, and the Nordic concept of fate being a participatory event. It is a complete, standalone novelette that is not connected to any series, though perhaps someday Urðr, Verðandi or Skuld will award an hour to someone else?

Book Review

One hour to change how things turned out. One hour in the past and how can Marae use this gift to make sure that her future turns out better than the one she is currently living in. Can you really change your own fate with the gift of a single hour? Marae sure hopes to try.

When the watch gifted to her by her dead fiancé stops she decides to get it repaired from the shop he bought it. Being his last connection to her, she would want to preserve it. Then the watchmaker gifts her with a magical hour in the past. She must now hurry to reach him one year ago and tell him just how much his love means to her. To try and keep him safe even as he goes into battle.

It is an absolutely brilliant tale and I love the way Anna spins her stories.

Book Review

After I finished “Agents of Ki” Book 3 in the Sword of the Gods series, I was so desperate to get to book 4 that I actually contacted the author on facebook to ask when she was publishing it. Anna is still working on the book, but guided me to her new series “The Children of the Fallen”. This is a book that happens a couple of millenniums after the original book and it is based in modern times.

It deals with a young angelic by the name of Azreal, who finds himself the subject of a bet between Hashim and his old enemy the Dragon known as Shay'tan. It is a whole new story dealing with new people and current world events.  Although you do manage to get a sneak peek in to what happened to all the major players in the first series.

It is just as fascinating as the older series and now I am stuck waiting for the next book in both!

The saga of the greatest superhero to ever walk the Earth continues in Agents of Ki…

Book Review

Gita's always made me wonder about her role in Mikael's life and I am very happy to know its a significant one. It was very interesting picking up all the new details about his childhood, and left me wanted to push the two of them together so that they would know they were soul bonded. Of course that would not serve the story at this point of time when the agents of Ki must still perform their tasks. However it would give me enormous satisfaction to see the last living full blooded Seraphim to actually know his mate is alive and he will not be alone again. The Lucifer and Jamin development was a total surprise and what a twist in the tale! I hope he lives long enough to help the Morning Star with whatever problems he will face as he lays a claim to earth. The fight scenes were absolutely fantastic. And the progress out Chosen one is making on the star ship with the other "wives" is great. I do hope she picks Special Agent Eligor...It will make them both happy. Not to mention leave the way clear for Gita:) I really thought this was the last book in the series and it was very frustrating to not know what happens next! I shall be eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

The Eternal Emperor and Shay'tan are so busy outwitting one another that neither notices Lucifer is a little 'off' … or that a much more ancient Evil One outmaneuvers them.  Book Review

Now that Brigadier Genera; Raphael knows that his best friend is alive, he must search for him in the uncharted territories. It can be a bit daunting keeping up with the sub plots that come alive in this book. The village of Assur and its enemy of the nomadic tribe that flirts around its boundaries. The deals that Jamin makes with them, although he is still not Chief. The flashbacks that let us know more about Lucifer give us a better idea of where he comes from, and what could possibly go wrong. I like that the hybrids are taking care of their human mates. The stories of the sub plots add to the complexity of the book and make me wish I could be everywhere and see it all happening! Of course the next best thing is to read the book and see how everything is resolved :)
