An American student Cheryl is asked by her professor to go to France for an assignment to restore a chapel which was damaged in a world war two bombing. The Count is hardly happy to have a student in place of the eminent professor he was expecting, but is courteous enough to welcome her. Then the professor dies in hospital and the police figures out that it was actually a murder. Finding the hidden statue of the Madonna has become an obsession with all the students working on the restoration of the chapel. The story does get a bit complicated and difficult to follow with the many twists and turns at the end.Love all the characters floating through the woods!
