Book Description

Self-made sports and entertainment agent Vivienne Tucker knows no one in the frozen town of Castle Ridge is going to melt her heart. No one can. She’s been on her own for too long and while her skin might appear soft, she’s as tough as nails.

Paul Bradford is a devoted family man to his younger siblings, whose heart and life belong to the town he grew up in. He’s not used to taking time for himself or relationships, but after an anonymous one-night stand, he can’t forget the ice queen who heated at his touch and ignited a passion he thought he’d lost. Until the next day when he spies her kissing someone else.

Vivienne never expected to see Paul again until she discovers he’s the older brother of her newest client. An older brother who doesn’t approve of her client’s career choice. An older brother who stirs up desire she’s tried so hard to forget.

When her client is involved in a possibly career-ending accident, Vivienne and Paul must put aside their differences and work together. But what if working together makes them both re-think the heartbreak contract they’d agreed upon?

An introductory novella to the Castle Ridge Small Town Romance series. The series includes The Romance Dance, The Christmas Match, The Flirtation Game, The Playboy Switch, and The Billionaire's Ploy.

Book Review

If you have been following the Castle Ridge series, you would know that Vivian is the agent who represents both the celebrity chef as well as the professional skater from previous books. This is her story. How she discovered the small city of Castle Ridge, a new young talent who she signs up, as well as finding her place in his family.

Vivienne has been through a tough childhood in foster homes after her family was killed in a car accident. She's toughened herself up and is now on the fast track to success with her career as an agent. What she doesn't cater for is the accident on the way to Castle Ridge and meeting with the handsome paramedic who is part of the response team.

Paul has pretty much placed his life on hold to look after his siblings once his parents died. Now with only Jay left to run out of the nest, he doesn't know what he's going to do. Till he happens to rescue a pretty woman who seems to be so much in tune with him. She's running at the thought of a serious commitment and all he wants is someone to share his life. This is their story of making it work.

Book Review

This is the story of Lexi's hard nosed businessman, elder brother Jackson. He's been through a lot to keep the family business solvent and not even had Ryder's help. He envies his siblings even as he moves through the motions to protect them and the family name. Now if only Ryder will do the right thing and marry Shey so that things stabilize in the merger. He does not see Emory coming in and disrupting his carefully laid plans. He did not think he would not be able to deal with her. He definitely did not expect to fall in love with her. Now he needs to look after her, but he can't be with her. After all she thinks she knows him, but he's a monster who has not revealed his true colours...or so he thinks. great story

Book Description

After almost dying in an avalanche, Dax O’Donnell makes a promise to himself: get serious about life and his career. His playboy ways might be fun, but he needs to plan for his future. Applying to paramedic school has always been a dream, but is he smart enough to succeed?

Lexi Henderson has loved Dax since joining the ski patrol team at Castle Ridge Resort. Knowing he’s a playboy, she’s kept her distance, but when he’s rescued from an avalanche she kisses him and sparks both of their desires. But he thinks she has a boyfriend—another playboy, and she keeps a major secret. Or two.
Dax suggests fun lessons to turn Lexi’s quiet and rigid attitude around. But when fun turns to passion, he must ask, is she willing to make the playboy switch?

In this secret identity tale, love overcomes secrets and lies.

Book Review

We first met Dax in the first book of the series which was Reed's romance with Quinn. Dax was the younger brother who was in a funk about his girlfriend moving away. And Reed believed himself too damaged to be allowed to fall in love and helped him make a move on Quinn. However that did not work out and Reed did get his girl. What about poor Dax?

In a family of brilliant and passionate people he is the ordinary one. The dumb jock on ski patrol. The party boy who makes things fun. Unfortunately that's not how he wants the rest of his life to be. Already a bit discontent with the way things were he makes a life changing decision when he gets buried in an avalanche.
How serious is he about turning his life around does not make the story though..it's about how he wants Lexi to become less serious and have fun. The two come across as opposites, but balance is important in life.

When a girl goes from lifeguard to princess…
Maris Sanders thinks she’s a normal high school girl. Until she starts developing underwater powers that aren’t normal at all. When a good-looking stranger, with the odd name of Cuda, comes into her life and tells her stories, she discovers a history that stuns her.
A lost princess. A lost kingdom. And two lost sisters she never knew she had.
Not knowing who to believe, Maris is determined to find the truth. About herself, her powers, and her sisters. But a scientist hired by Cuda’s father is determined to use her as a science experiment. Maris must decide whether to risk her life and her present human reality to join a battle under the sea. And if she doesn’t, will she ever find where she truly belongs?

Book Review

Maris has had the most normal life among the three princesses so far. She doesn't even know that she is adopted. She has never been allowed close to the ocean by her parents and it comes as a surprise to her that she could swim without ever having taken a single lesson. She is fast enough to win medals for her school and obviously feels that working as a life guard is a perfect summer job. Although she though she would end up at pool duty like most newbies, not at the beach.

Cuda has more than a passing interest in Maris. He thinks that she may be the lost princess, but he needs to find out if she is aware of her own special talents. Before he can test her, she ends up rescuing Dirk Devilla. The son of a scientist who is in cahoots with the separatist leaders. He's looking for the princess but really doesn't believe in the legend like his father does. Unfortunately its all true and Dirk manages to trap Maris and hand her over to his father.

Maris is just about coming to terms with the fantastic legend which both Cuda and Dirk are convinced is about her and two other lost princesses when she discovers her special ability...to heal in the ocean. There's a whole lot of story left even once the book ends. Can't wait to find out how the three united princesses and their personal body guards deal with the situation underwater and the coming war.

Book Review

Of the three Princesses of Atlantis, only one made it back with her regent. That was Princess Cordelia. Or Coral as her close friend Finn likes to call her. Coral has doubts about her being a genuine princess because Mollusk her regent plants them there. She hopes that by looking for her two sisters she will be able to convince him and the rest of her citizens of her claim to rule. Unfortunately she is little more than a prisoner in her own castle...

Till someone abducts her. Someone she trusted before he became a separatist. Some one who did more than stand her up for a date she was really looking forward to. Someone who broke her heart...Can she trust Finn this time round not to betray her? Can he keep her safe even as people try to murder her to do away with the legend?

The plot thickens now as we come to know that Finn is actually Pearl's step brother, but was led away from the Royalists by his father. Now he fights with his own heart's desire to keep Coral safe, and the ideology that refuses to suffer the policies that Mollusk implements. With the two of them manage to survive not just the enemies trying to kill them but also each other?!

Book Description

After a scandal in Hollywood, celebrity chef Michael Marstrand accepts a position to be head chef at Castle Ridge Lodge and star in a television program about re-opening a five-star restaurant. He believes returning to his hometown to help the struggling restaurant will earn him public relations points and help an old friend. What he doesn’t know is the sous chef expected to be named head chef and the television series is a reality show called Kitchen Catastrophe.

Sous Chef Isabel O’Donnell returned from vacation to discover the restaurant kitchen remodeled and a new head chef. With contracts already signed, she has no choice but to work for Chef Michael, a man she’d had a crush on since middle school. A man who’d stolen her job.

With the hidden cameras rolling, Michael tries to make the day-to-day routine boring so Kitchen Catastrophe will never be shown, but an interfering producer introduces a bridezilla and an employee who causes trouble. Add the simmering attraction between Michael and Isabel and the reality show has everything: drama, fights, and sex.

In this best friend’s brother conflict, will a fake flirtation produce the perfect recipe or enflame desire?

Book Review

I went straight from the first book The Romance Dance to the third one here, so I was wondering a bit about the references to Luke's romance. However on the whole, the story can be read as a stand alone. I loved the action packed drama that the producer is trying to create and the Chef is trying to avoid.

Michael has a huge chip on his shoulder because of his choice of profession, specially since his father never approved of him. In fact he was borderline abused as a kid and is always trying to prove he is a man because of this.
Isabelle is living her dream and is just about to reach the height of achievement by becoming Head Chef at the Caste Ridge Hotel when Michael usurps her position. She's not happy about that, but he is her childhood crush and she's glad to spend time with him.

Things go from sweet and nice to sexy and steamy when the two of them hit it off. It's fairly predictable in terms of the story, but hey it's a romance with a HEA and that's why you're reading it, right?

Book Description

Her mother slowly dying in a poisonous plot of power.
An ancient instrument of peace threatening ultimate destruction.
A determined brainiac demanding secrets and smart enough to uncover them.

Piper Akins has lived her entire life in the clutches of an evil cult and wants to run away. But with her uncle’s double cross and her mother on her deathbed, she has no choice but to do as the cult demands and search for the supposed magical trumpet of King Tut.

Thanks to an unknown but powerful father, Piper is immune to the trumpet’s effects. But she’s not immune to the charms of Soul Warrior Math, who believes she’s working with him not against him.

Math might be the smartest warrior in the force, but he wants to be respected for his physical prowess. The only way to prove this is to discover Piper’s secrets, find the missing trumpet of peace, and defeat the evil cult. When Piper tricks him, he realizes he’s failed on all counts.

While Piper and Math circle around each other, pretending one thing, believing another, the threat grows. Her mother will certainly die if Piper doesn’t betray her growing love for Math. And Math must offer more than muscles and brains to win Piper over. He must offer his heart.

But can both learn to trust each other in time to stop mankind’s annihilation?

Book Review

I must confess that I was expecting Piper to play the trumpet all through the book like Aria did in the previous book with the Trumpet of War. However the story line here is very different and way more fun. Piper goes to her Uncle's pawn shop to retrieve the trumpet which has been smuggled in to the country on behalf of the Order of Crucis. Only to find her Uncle trying to double cross the Order by selling it to someone else. Only thing is, they steal the trumpet and walk out with one playing the trumpet and putting everyone to sleep.

Everyone but Piper. Now she knows the head of the Order Aaron will never let her hear the end of it should she reveal that she had not fallen asleep. Now the Soul Warriors show up at the pawn shop and she's forced to reveal that detail to Aaron as well, who decides she needs to keep them distracted while the Order retrieves the trumpet from the thieves. The only reason she's doing this is so that she can help cure her mother and take her away. Escape from Math, the reanimated stone warrior is not going to be quite as easy.

Forced to work together Piper falls hard for Math, but then she needs to bring the trumpet to Aaron. Will Math get over her betrayal? Will they be able to survive the fight against the members of the Order? And most importantly, will Piper escape a fate worse than death by being tired eternally to do Aaron's bidding in Pi Day? If you still don't want to read this book to find out, you obviously are strolling the wrong genre aisle!

Book Description

Her grandfather kidnapped.
An ancient instrument of death in her hands.
A warrior from the past determined to stop her.

When sixteen-year-old Aria York loses her parents, she thinks nothing worse can happen. Then her grandfather is kidnapped by a mysterious Egyptian cult and she is being hunted by two competing sects. Both want King Tut’s trumpet of war and will kill to obtain the legendary instrument.

When Aria plays the magical trumpet she forgets her grief. Instead, triumph, greed and anger flow through her veins. When chaos erupts in San Francisco as a direct result, she realizes she must trust a tortured warrior even though he demands she hand over the trumpet or risk enveloping the world in war.

Falcon comes from the past with a goal to save the future. He makes a deal with Aria to help save her grandfather, risking his quest by involving the girl and jeopardizing his heart.

Aria wants to believe him, but knows there’s something even bigger at stake. A secret so powerful neither teen understands the implications. As each precious hour passes, she’s forced to ask: Is she playing the trumpet or is the trumpet playing her?

Book Review

Falcon is one of the Xanders who was reanimated in the first book of the series. It doesn't matter too much if you haven't read the first book in terms of following the story in this one. You can still understand what's happening all throughout, but it does give a nice sense of continuity if you read the first book.

Aria (like her musical name) is pulled by the power of the trumpet of war. As she plays the trumpet she forgets the real world and is sucked in to a place where only the trumpet's music and she exist. It's only when she quits playing that she realizes that she's inciting riots and worse by releasing the magic of the music.

Falcon was addicted to the trumpet in a previous life, and he doesn't want Aria to struggle like he did. He's trying to save her, despite herself, and they both have to fight the cult that is throwing temptation her way. Can they survive the chaos unleashed when Aria plays the trumpet of war?
OMG what a sequel! I'm still feeling the rush of riding on the top of the bus. Yes I would totally recommend this book and probably this whole series, I know I can't wait to read the next book.

Book Review

Olivia is struggling to survive and she needs to do what she is told to do to keep her young friends safe. Even if the task is stealing a precious artifact from the museum. Trouble is, it's not just any artifact and she's not the only one trying to steal it.
Xander has been brought up with the belief that he is special and that he will have the power of the soul of King Tut residing in him. So it's a major shock when he's being put through the ceremony only to have Olivia steal both the artifact and the power.
Now Olivia needs to run and hide, and Xander has been cast aside. Can the two of them trust each other enough to work together, and what exactly can they do to ensure that the hidden society doesn't cause more harm than it already has?
Fantastic YA read. Thoroughly enjoyed the story. The action is seamless, the thrill follow each other and the characters are by turns vulnerable and powerful. You find yourself rooting for them to get through the challenges they face.

Quinn is an ex-ballerina who wants to make dancing fun again. She doesn't want to remain in the rat race but instead wants to go back to her hometown and set up a dance school. She ends up being Reed's tenant.
Reed's brother wants Quinn and enlists Reed's help to woo her. Considering the fact that Reed has not shown any interest in a woman since his accident left him handicapped, he doesn't think twice about helping his brother...till he realizes that he wants Quinn for himself.
Nice plot, well written story and characters are very real.

Book Description

When a girl runs away from the circus…
For all her sixteen years, Pearl Poseidon has been a fish out of water. A freak on display for her adoptive parents’ profit. Running away from her horrible life, she craves one thing—anonymity. But when she saves a small boy from drowning she exposes herself and her mutant abilities to Chase, a budding investigative reporter.
Now, he has questions. And so do the police.
Once Pearl discovers her secret identity, she learns she’s part of a larger war between battling Atlanteans. A battle that will decide who rules the oceans. A battle raging between evil and her true family. Will she find a way to use her powers in time to save a kingdom she never knew existed?

Book Review

Pearl (that name is so appropriate for a deep sea dweller) is a teenager who has had a miserable life so far. Her ability to breathe underwater had made her into a freak to be exhibited by her adoptive parents who are part of a circus. When she finally manages to run away she's determined to keep that fact from everyone around her so no one ever gets to take advantage of her again. Then a boy falls into the water at the amusement park and she jumps in to save him.

Chase is the nephew of the amusement park owner. He notices that Pearl was down in the water way longer than humanly possible. He befriends her to learn her secret. He is an investigative journalist and he has his life all planned out. A scoop like this could make his reputation.

When Pearl learns of his treachery she decides to swim away. In the ocean she makes new friends, learns of a whole new world and is surprised to hear of a whole war going on underwater. She needs to decide if she really wants to be a part of the power struggle in the ocean, or return to the shore and try to piece her life together.

Emotional drama over Pearl's life was heart breaking. Just how much more does a teenage girl have to bear? Lot of intrigue, and hints of things to come. Looking forward to the next book in the series to see just how Pearl matures. The book had well developed primary characters, an interesting plot, and a hook to keep you wanting to come back for more!
