As the new laird, it’s Alec’s responsibility to rebuild the castle and restore the lands. When the new laird comes back to claim his land, his determination to restore order threatens everything Celia has worked so hard to gain, especially with the undeniable attraction sizzling between them. Together, they will face all challenges, from the tangle of their own damaged pasts to the fire-fueled witch hunts sweeping the Isle of Mull. Together, they will find that the best way to overcome darkness and war is through the undeniable light of love.
Book Review
Alec has come back to a castle in ruins, a people plagued by bandits and a land gone wild. He has his task cut out for himself to claim his birthright. He's not afraid of hard work, but he's not expecting Celia to upset his well balanced apple cart.
Celia has a gift for healing, it's not witchcraft, it's knowledge of herbs. However that does not stop her from being sought out as a witch. Having escaped from a witch hunt as a child, she has tried to stay low key and heal those who came to her.
She was not looking forward to having to heal Alec. Even if he had saved the life of a young girl. The two of them are not looking for a relationship, but their sparks cause a fire between them. Both want to keep it purely physical, but love blooms.
Just when Celia felt that she could open her heart to more, an old enemy catches up to her and she must flee if she wants to live. The only way he can keep her safe is by staying away from her. Unfortunately, a misguided guided youth manages to bungle up her hiding space.
There are so many elements of drama, such complex characters and their motivation woven into the tale. You simply can't put the book down and say I'll come back to this. You have to read to find out what happened next, till you eventually end the book with a heartfelt sigh offering thanks to the author for having helped them find their happy ending despite all odds.

One who could save her or see her condemned.
PERHAPS THEY CAN SAVE EACH OTHER.
When innocent lies become reality and danger follows them every step of the way, could love be the answer to both their problems, or will their passions be their undoing?
Book Review
He's half British and half Scottish. The death of his grandfather renders him the Earl of Benton. It's a legacy he can't refuse, especially if he wishes to use his newly inherited wealth to restore his castle in Scotland. His mother Madge feels that she's lost him to his British heritage and creates a scheme to smuggle whiskey which she knows only he can help her with.
Alistair is on the way to help his mom in Scotland when Emma lands in his lap, literally. She's a merchant's daughter, but she's the heiress to a fortune so the ton will accept her. Only trouble is, she has no wish to marry. Especially not her Uncle's malicious son. Unfortunately he is her guardian for another month. A month that she may not survive.
Alistair takes Emma under his protection and offers her a trip to Scotland. It serves both their purposes. They pretend to be married and while it makes no difference in England, what Emma doesn't know is that declaring each other husband and wife in front of a witness in Scotland is all that it takes to be married.
How will she react to the news that she's actually married to the handsome Earl. Will he be able to win her trust and convince her that he does not have any need for her money? Given the condition of his castle in Scotland and the fact that he's running whiskey, he doesn't think so.
Another beautiful historical story from the author. The characters are lovable, the situations that they find themselves in funny to the reader, and there's plenty of action to keep you engrossed till the end of the story. The book is also part of a multi-author series known as the Wicked Earls' Club.

Book Description
Love can be the greatest possession.
Brianna Lindsay's grip on the inheritance that is rightly hers hangs by a thread. If the town finds out her father has died, Brianna will be forced into marriage with her loathsome cousin, Lord Robert, and will lose all of Edzell Castle and its lands. To protect her home, she'll have to trust a complete stranger, a brooding Highland barbarian who sweeps into Edzell with a small retinue and insists on replacing her Captain of the Guard. He proves his worth by defeating her men and she has no choice but to accept his offer.
Though his motives are suspect, Colin MacKinnon has nobility in his blood and good intentions in coming to Edzell. He seeks his own kingdom, one to rival his father's, and sets out to conquer Brianna in the best way he knows how—with seduction.
Brianna never thought of all the wealth she protects, the one thing she has left completely vulnerable is her heart. Colin never thought that of everything he stands to achieve, he might have to face the unexpected pain of loss. Together, they must navigate a treacherous world of spies and intrigue, of legacy and fidelity, of love and betrayal, to find what is truly worth possessing.
Book Review
Another
excellent historical read from Madeline Martin. Brianna is desperate to
retain her freedom, while her cousin tries to force her into marriage
with him. She turns to her Captain of the Guard for help. Collin is not a
commoner like she believed, as his father is a laird. However the
situation is complicated and she needs to save him from hanging, for a
crime that he did not commit.
What I loved about the
book is that there is no single plot that takes you predictably from a
to z. You have misunderstandings between the newly married couple, you
have a temptress from the husband's past, you have a possible French
father of the wife, not to mention a twin brother and disapproving
father who also show up.
From the first page she has you hooked. I
literally couldn't sleep without completing the novel.Totally recommend the read.

Book Description
Scottish Romance doesn't get much steamier—or more dangerous—than a spy hunting her quarry, and losing her heart to him instead.
To pay a seemingly impossible debt, Mariel Brandon has become a spy for Aaron, one of England's deadliest minds. Aaron's latest mission for the sharp-witted and daring Mariel is to find two people in a heavily fortified castle on the Isle of Skye, a castle headed by the clan MacDonald and the powerful Kieran. Mariel is to seduce Kieran and get him to take her to Skye. If she succeeds, Aaron promises to let Mariel's young brother go, and to free both of them from their debt. If she fails, her brother will die.
What she doesn't count on is craving Kieran MacDonald almost immediately upon meeting him. Now Mariel must keep a secret from Kieran—one that could get them both killed—as she tries to form a plan that will save her brother, get her out from under Aaron's thumb once and for all, and keep her in Kieran's strong arms forever.
Book Review
Mariel was forced to work for Aaron once she lost her parents to the
plague. She tried to get out of the life that she hated but couldn't
because Aaron kept her brother Jack hostage. Just when she though all
hope was lost Aaron asks her to do one last task, promising to set both
brother and sister free after it's done. Unfortunately Mariel will be
forced to do the one thing that she has never had the stomach to do,
kill someone. She hopes to get the information required from the
Scottish Barbarian, so that she is not forced to murder him.
Kieran
MacDonnald is the laird of Skye, and he's extremely suspicious of
beautiful English women. There is no denying that he is drawn to the
mysterious Mariel, but he is equally sure that he is never going to act
on what seems to be a mutual attraction. He's convinced that she will
not survive the hard life at Skye and eventually will return to England.
Instead he is surprised at how resilient she prove and how she wins
over all his people. Just as he goes and falls in love with her, she
decides that she needs to murder him.
There are many moments in the book
where human vulnerabilities are beautifully depicted. The moment when
she realizes that she would need to sacrifice the man she loved, so that
another child should not suffer like Jack has, was great. I
particularly loved the way the author handled the scene where she is
finally reunited with her brother, only to be rejected by him. Extremely
well handled.

Book Description
Senara agrees to work as a lady's maid at Castle of Park to help ease the financial burden of her beloved family. She does not expect to have such a wicked mistress any more than she expects to find a handsome laird...or a ghost with a burning need for retribution.
Gavin vowed on his father's death bed to watch over his aunt, and regrets it every day. Especially when her new maid arrives. The woman is extraordinarily fascinating which stirs his cruel aunt's ire. Can he protect the woman from his aunt? Even more important, can he keep himself from giving into his longing for the country lass?
Theirs is a journey of treacherous pasts, painful loss, hidden longing and vengeance.
Book Review
It's a Cinderella story, with a ghostly twist.
When Senara leaves her home and family behind to come work for Lady Edana, she's only thinking about not being a burden to her family. Unfortunately her new employer is quite a difficult person to get along with. The bitter old maid is after her nephew Gavin to get married and beget a heir so that the king doesn't get his hands on their lands.
Gavin has been hoping to do the right thing and make a marriage of convenience and hopefully some profit. Then he meets Senara and she's a distraction he can not afford, yet is helpless to deny. Things come to a head when a ghost is freed from behind a wall by Senara. There are secrets in the castle that are unknown to Gavin and Senara, but will the secrets help them? You're going to have to read the book to find out.
What I really liked about the novel is that it took the author just five well defined characters to put across a wealth of knowledge about the time period and move the story forward. The writing is crisp and the suspense well managed. The ghost really does capture your imagination, and leaves you rooting for the young couple in love. The ending, while not unexpected did manage not to be very predictable.
