Book Review

The thrid book in the Decorah Security series is definetly more in tune with the first one. The idea of a ghostly body guard is appealing, especially when he can become solid when the need arises. The idea of the spirit lingering in an area away from the physical body is beautifully dealt with in this paranormal novel. I enjoyed the fact that Matthew Houseman's spirit would return to the one place he had been happy as his body and spirit were wrenched apart. Isabella Flores arriving there was just a fortuitous coincidence. Will Isabella get Matthew's spirit to return to his body? Can Matt protect her from the harm that is coming? How will this story be resolved. Find out when you read the book.

Book Review

First off let me say that this is not a book for young impressionable children.

There is too much darkness and intense sexuality for this to be a young adult novel.

That said, the story is intriguing. Imagine having to rescue a rich man's kidnapped daughter from a ship on international waters. Now add complications like its actually a high class, kinky brothel being run by a megalomaniac and the take down crew consists of just one couple with no backup. And the man is a werewolf who has mated with the woman, but not yet told her. 

Enough action to keep you holding your breath. Not quite what I expected after On Edge but I'll wait to see how the story progresses in Book 3 of the series.

She would hate the man who caused the events forever. There was no excuse for such behaviour in her book.

Book Review

Frank Decorah and his soul mate from beyond the veil, Ariel are an absolutely intriguing couple. I'm a paranormal fan and this little story has me jumping in my seat as I read. I'm really looking forward to see how Frank can help Ariel in her mission even if he has to stay on Earth.
I understand that this is a prequel and many of you may already be well acquainted with the Decorah Security series, but I am truly looking forward to the next book.

Book Review

I didn't want to read this book... I really didn't. I won a couple of books at a FB party from Emily Goodwin and since I'd never read any of her works I asked her to send me anything she liked. After the author sent me this book I read the blurb and my honest reaction was I don't want to read something so depressing. I read the other book she sent me and I quite enjoyed it, then I wondered if I should give this book a go.

I began reading and three chapters in I wanted to never touch it again. I managed to stay away from it for four days. The scenes of human trafficking, kidnapping, and violence would come back to haunt me. Every night I literally had to push them away from my mind before I could sleep. Then I manned up and read the whole book. I still couldn't take the treatment of the girls. I know she touched just the tip of the iceberg, but it was so well written that I really had nightmares.

When I finally finished the book I was so grateful for Jackson and Addie. I am glad that Emily gave them a happy ending, but I am haunted by the thought that there are still so many victims out these who never manage to escape. Who exist in a never ending cycle of exploitation and don't even have the hope of ever being rescued. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about them. In an ideal world we would rescue all of them and give them a second chance at life. Unfortunately the world we live in is far from an ideal one.

I have to give credit where it is due, the book is beautifully written and describes an underbelly to polite society that is downright scary. That said, I wish I could get the image of Phobe's broken, bloody body lying on the cemented floor of the cold basement out of my head.

Sometimes time is the best way to heal a relationship. When love may not be enough to weather the turmoil that a relationship hits, it takes some patience and a whole lot of fortitude to wait for the right moment to reach out again. My only grouse is that the story was too short :)
