Book Description

When Ally’s mother moves to Seattle to try out a relationship with an internet boyfriend, the fourteen-year-old has to live with her dad, her wicked stepmonster, and her way too beautiful stepsister. Ally’s list of brutal teen truths is growing by the minute. Can change actually bring something good this time around, or is Ally doomed to live out her life as the ugly stepsister?

Book Review

This is a stand alone book from the author which does not have any paranormal activity like the Stirring Trouble series or any covert spying activities like the Hottie series, but it still manages to be great fun. It tells us the tale of a regular teenager who is already dealing with her parent's divorce when her mother decides to up and move across the country to give love a second chance.

Thus Ally ends up in her father's care with step monster and step sister. Her brutal teen truths are a funny touch, but very poignant. It's all about Ally finding herself ugly compared to her step sister and then realizing that beauty is not everything. In fact that handsome boy next door is quite taken with HER! Very sweet book. Lots of misadventures that hit regular life along the way and well worth reading.

Then Katie has to decide if the tormented, broken man she loves more than anything is worth everything—even risking her own life.

Book Review

There are six books in the Trouble series. All of the three here are part of Tyler and Katie's journey. They go from roadie fan and rock star to addicts who almost kill themselves, before they get sorted back out. Can Katie ever give Tyler a chance to come back into her life and not worry that the two of them will end up addicted again? It's a chance that Tyler wants her to take, but how much has he really changed?

Book Description

She's a sensible, practical elementary school teacher with an uber-crush on a rock star.
He's a hard-rocking, hard-living man trying to keep his band, and his life, together, with more than a few skeletons in his closet.
When the two of them--literally--run into each other, sparks fly, and what happens next will rock your world.

Book Review

This boxed set contains three books from the Trouble series. They cover Rob and Sabrina's journey. They go from infatuated fan and rock star to husband and wife in these books. Of course there are a whole lot of trials before the two can get to that comfort zone. Plenty of steamy stuff along the way.

Book Description

Fun young adult romance novel. Game of gnomes….who’s taking Grandma’s gnomes? Why is the hottest guy in school such a jerk? These are the questions Alyssa will answer this fall.

Alyssa’s a dancer who loves choreography. She’s new to town and she’s done with mean dance teams, and dance instructors who insult to motivate. She’s out to prove that an appreciative, supportive choreographer can win the Willow Dance Championship. When handsome, witty Thayer asks her out, the lights of New York shine even brighter. She doesn’t know he’s lying about his last name, thinks she’s a poor scholarship girl, and is on a date with her as an experiment. And when she finds out…

Thayer’s sick of dating the girls at Shay Prep who use his family’s influence to get ahead in society. He decides to date a girl from the prep school across town. That’s when his best friend offers him a challenge, “Stop with the prep school girls. Go out with a regular girl, not someone paying 100K a year in tuition.” It’s one of those ideas that hits him as right. Thayer musses his perfect hair, ditches his Shay Prep blazer and accepts the challenge. Twelve dollars will buy him a bit of truth – will a Manhattan girl go out with a guy who only has twelve dollars to spend on their date? He finds Alyssa, the pretty scholarship dancer.

Love and payback collide in this standalone fun YA romance. Standalone, Happily Ever After, single female point of view, upper YA.

Book Review

I "accidentally" found another book of Emily Evans called Accidental Cinderella last week and really enjoyed it. That led me to look for more books from the author. I found this book and liked the sound of the story. Alyssa is new in town and wants to make the most of it. Thayer is the poor little rich kid. He always is super suspicious because he is forever being taken advantage of.

She ends up on a date with him without know who he really is. He thinks she's a poor kid with a scholarship and wants to know how they would ever gel. Of course there are sparks and more than a few dances along the way. Not to mention Alyssa's grandmother's gnomes making life more exciting than needed.

Hannah's great-grandmother, Lena, sold special holiday cookies that brought hope and renewal to the people of Christmas Town. Yet Hannah has plans elsewhere and isn't looking to stay. Book Review

Hannah inherits a Christmas Cookie Shop from her great grandmother Lena. Ironically she can't cook to save her life. She even manages to burn microwave popcorn. She has plans to sell the shop and go on to college. Then she comes to Christmas Town. The place is over the top Christmasy. The locals most welcoming and friendly. She begins to have second thoughts about the shop and staying in town.

Carter is the local sheriff. He's literally Santa in a red pickup where Hannah is concerned. He's got commitment issues but Hannah interests him enough to warn off his best friend and town doctor Kurt from asking her out. He's not sure if he should go ahead and try to get into a relationship with Hannah, especially when she has plans to leave in a couple of months.

Enter the Virginia Cookies from Lena's recipe. The magical properties of these cookies are supposed to work wonders, but when Hannah bakes them for Carter why won't he eat them? I'm sure if you enjoy Christmas stories you will love this one.

A ball…a gown…a pumpkin…and a happily ever…this standalone, contemporary YA romance has them all. When Ella receives an exciting invitation to attend an exclusive boarding school, she knows she won’t fit it. These kids are elite, wealthy, and driven. She’s ‘average Ella’ on a scholarship…at least, that’s what she wants everyone to believe. A lost shoe…a lost shirt…oh my…When events push her to need a boyfriend, Ella asks hot senior Hale.

His response? “No.”
Yep. That’s her fairytale.

Hale’s driven, and he needs an A on the fall project. He doesn’t need the sweet but average scholarship girl screwing up his grade – not after last year. Tanking science will ruin his entry into a top pre-med program. He’s focused. School. Homework. Rowing. No girl’s going to mess up his plan. Not even one as intriguing as Ella.
These two meet in ashes, sparks fly, and their lives light up.

Book Review

Thoroughly enjoyed this rewriting of the fairy tale. Makes for good clean fun as a young adult novel. Enjoyed the way Ella goes from never letting her light shine to outsmarting everyone! Of course the handsome prince Hale is watching out for her, even as he claims he never dates. Why then is he so disappointed when she refuses to go to the Apple Ball. And why doe she make the invitation to the Pumpkin Ball so irresistible. Especially enjoyed the way Ella ends up coaching the entire rowing team.

The chaos in Zoe's life continues in this second book of the series. Now she has her witch friend in on the Halloween celebration at Jake's home, causing the world's frog population to explode. She almost looses her magic, but her brilliance in finding potion substitutes allows the council to give her a second chance. Book Description

Zoe Miller is a 15-year-old witch with a talent for potions. She's working hard to find a substitute for toad slime. Since fat-free margarine has been found to be a substitute for dead man's toe, she's hopeful that she'll find one.

Then there's all the so-called normal stuff. Like high school, her annoyingly selfish "friend" Anya, and her crush on Anya's ex-boyfriend Jake.

Now, Zoe's dad is dating Jake's mom, and things are getting more and more complicated. If only Zoe could brew a potion or two and set everything straight. Zoe can't. If she brews a self-serving potion, bad things will happen to her appearance. Like a crooked nose, giant wart, green skin, rotting teeth--the whole ugly witch stereotype.

Zoe's tired of fate interfering so cruelly in her life. Can you really blame her for putting her potions to not-so-good use and stirring up trouble?

Book Review

Witches are real. They brew potions and do magic. They may also attend your high school. Zoe is a talented witch who loves working on her potions besides doing well in school. Her love life is a little chaotic considering that she's got a crush on her best friend's ex boyfriend. It gets worse when said ex boyfriend's mother starts dating her divorced father. The story runs through the ups and downs of Zoe's angst as she tries to figure out a way to deal with the emotional roller coaster that her life has become. Needless to say, there is also magical trouble brewing!

Little do they appreciate that the leader is among them. One whom they know. A tortured and ostracised prince. A prince they tried to break. A prince called Ram.

Will Ram rise above the taint that others heap on him? Will his love for Sita sustain him through his struggle? Will he defeat the demon Lord Raavan who destroyed his childhood? Will he fulfil the destiny of the Vishnu?

Book Review

As incredible as it is, the story of Ram told and retold by countless story tellers over the centuries has only added to the richness of the tale. I enjoyed reading Amish Tripathi's take on the greatest story ever written/sung/enacted or narrated. He has done a great job with the Shiva Triology and you find traces of that world to come in this book as conversations between Ram and Sita.

I liked the little changes he made to the characters like making Manthara a rich merchant rather than Kaikeyi's maid servant. Also the rakhi angle and violence against the physician was a different and effective trigger. I'm not sure people who are fond of the regular tale will understand the addition of this twist. However as far as I was concerned it added a definite difference and allowed the author to make the tale his.

Book Description

There are a few things Parnell Stillman is dead certain he will never do: He'll never fall in love. He'll never have kids. He'll never be a hero. Boy! Is he ever in for a rude awakening. His first and only love is flying. The struggle to keep his air cargo business solvent is challenge enough. Rebecca Hollis believes caring for others is the road to happiness. Tasked to shepherd five orphans on a flight to a conclave to meet prospective adoptive parents, she learns it takes much more.

The plane is caught helpless in the grip of a storm that sends it plunging into a frozen wilderness. Rebecca determines she and the disagreeable pilot must work together to insure the survival and rescue of the orphans. Parnell Stillman has other ideas. So do the orphans. Rescue means a return to foster homes and an uncaring welfare system. Or maybe not.

Book Review

I always look forward to reading Jackie's books because they combine interesting characters with adverse, sometimes humorous situations. This book is no exception. You have the confirmed bachelor who is happy operating his cargo plane. Then you have the do-good girl who wants to make a difference in the lives of the orphans she cares for. Now that includes getting them to an event where they could be adopted. Of course getting there as cheaply as possible involves flying in said reluctant confirmed bachelor's plane.

The fireworks are inevitable between the two characters and the dialogue is a whole lot of fun. Of course it is anything but fun for the entire gang when the plane has to make a forced landing on a frozen lake and actually manages to crash through it. Thankfully all lives are spared, but with the terrible weather how long will they survive?! Fantastic read.
